Fullforce,

Not to hijack this thread furthur, but there is a good reason for multiple clubs in the same area.  Not everyone has the same philosophy on dog training.  Every club has a different approach, philosophy and level of seriousness.  If everyone thought the same, there wouldn't be a need for 2 clubs.  Everyone within distance could all go to the same club.   That is why people continually encourage newbies to go to multiple clubs.  You have to see what is comfortable for you in training and socially.

As to the "in it for the money", I can only think of a few guys charging in the state.  One is a Ring guy that is not a club.  He doesn't do obedience etc.  He is merely a paid sleeve.  The other two are schutzhund and people go to them on their own.  The one is primarily all women.  Think about it.  Everytime you here anyone bitch about paying it is a guy.  If they were all guys, they would probably leave that club, form their own, do their own helperwork and be on their way.  The other group is a paid program that would fit your style of training more.

This is exactly why there are multiple clubs.  Sometimes you have to form your own.

Is $100/month outragous for a club that is not even registered basically just a training group (met once a week weather permitting and # of people to make it worth the guys to show up).  Just putting that out there for some feedback.

I wouldn't pay it because I don't have to, but if it works for a group of people than so be it.  I'm very lucky to be where I am and I know people that pay 50 bucks a day for three phases of training once a week, that's 200 a month, and they couldn't be happier, been doing it for a few years and would't change a thing.  How can someone on the sideline knock it?

Over here in Belgium i have seen a few disqualified in a trial in this last 12 months

But never once has the Handler of a Dog said anything to the Judge, His word is accepted right away and the handler and the Dog leave the field right away

The Judges word is the final one and everyone competing must respect that fact

It matters not if you live in Belgium, Germany, or the USA rules are rules and the Judge in the final one,

unsportsman like attitude will not be tolerated over here, and nor should it be elsewhere

Wildhaus, since it sounds like you were there and witnessed the event, in your opinion did the judge over-react?  I have heard from a couple of sources that the handler in question lost control.  The USA judges I have met have been pretty easy going folks, and it surprises me that they would hand down an 'un-sportsmanlike' ruling if it weren't deserved.  The word going around also mentions that the incident on Sunday was actually worse than Saturday.  By any chance were you there on Sunday to discredit the rumor?  Essentially, the handler was once again working his dog in protection, the dog wouldn't out again, the handler lost his temper, and made another scene.  From the account I've heard the judge came out again to intervene, and the handler was either asked to leave by either the judge or someone from the host club.  There is also unconfirmed reports that the handler struck/kicked the dog.  From your perspective did any of this happen?

Assuming even some of this is true, it doesn't belong in the sport.  This person needs to get some anger management help, and get away from the sport and dogs before worse happens.

This is a wierd post, Rumors are all over the place on this one. Chris Wild posted on here, but I was told it was Chris Wild and one of his Wildhaus dogs... So that goes to show you that, rumors are not always very accurate..

Looks like we will all have to wait for the next magazine to come out to see what happened.

Best Regards,
Dennis Johnson

You're right Dennis, this is getting weird!!  Chris posted as if he watched it happen, not that it happened to him.  Maybe he'll post again to clear up who the handler was.

Wow, so nobody that was there watching has the guts to post who this was???  That's kind of scary.
