Don Corleone

by Don Corleone on 04 June 2008 - 16:06

Wait a minute.  Is this a record for first time posters?

I have a few things that need to be considered.

First, what the hell does Sch have to do with someone being unsportsmanlike?  Why is the sport even being discussed?  Many people on this board cried when the "sport" did nothing to Gary, now it is under scrutiny because a judge properly DQed someone for being unsportsmanlike?

Fullforce, what clubs have you gone to?  I think I have trained with almost every club in Michigan and most seem very friendly and helpful.  This topic has nothing to do with your opinion of SCh.  I see nothing wrong with your opinion, but how is it relevant?

I have taken my kids to a trial or two and this is the last thing they need to see.  A previous poster claims that the posters on here are acting like children.  Isn't that how the DQed trialer acted?  Why would you expect more from an internet jockey than someone at a trial?   Kids usually stop having fits at a young age.  As far as I know, this isn't the first incident for the man.

Fullforce,

That's crap!  There are over 10 groups that train in Sch in Michigan and around 2 or 3 charge anything over club dues.  Hell there are even clubs that don't take dues.

Took the words right out of my mouth Don.  I was thinking of the whole Gary thing when this subject came up.  If it were Gary that did this then everyone would be saying "Yay it's about time he was DQ'd"  Talk about hypocrisy.  Judges are now damned if they do and damned if they don't.

The clubs I have been to scold me for my dogs bitework as they have pronounced fight drive ( headshakes, not equipment orin, wanting to hurt the decoy). The people say they are not SCH dogs as they want a dog that is focused on equipment and is only a prey monster. Yet my dogs OB is outstanding most of the time I get compliments on his OB so what are these people looking for ??? I guess I just need to keep searching for that decent club but I have been to every club within 5 hrs ( oneway) from me.

I took one of my females to a club at 15 weeks old and they said she was to aggressive for the club and she would not work. They told me to keep her away from my 2 yr old daughter because she is to wild. 8 month later I drop in one day and at 10 months old she nailed the decoy in the suit and they were standing there with their mouth on the ground. Meeting afterwards they said they never imagined her doing that or being at that level ( needless to say I don't go to that club anymore)  Must have been a young club inexperienced club!!! Then I went to another club and got shunned because I did not buy a dog from them!! just a couple experiences with SCH people

I don't know who this guy was or if there were other incidents in his past or not.

I've been to some trials in the area in the past couple years and have not seen any.

I don't listen to rumors and go only by what I have seen with my own eyes.

Yes his behavior could be called childish.

I've come to expect some of this at most any sporting event I attend or watch on tv including my son's baseball and soccer games where I have seen similar behavior or worse from participants and parents.

Professional athletes are rather prone to it too.

Hero Tiger Woods throws his clubs on national television.

Saying damn it and slapping the side of the blind is pretty tame in comparison.

I guess I don't think as much of it as the rest of you and being new to schutzhund and not having attended a lot of trials I don't know if this is common or not.

Either way people should be judged on the FACTS of their actions not second and third hand versions spouted by people who weren't there and didn't see it and where reality has been distorted in favor of making the story sound better.

Normally I have no interest in these sort of discussions but when I see people being accused of things that I know to be untrue because I was there and saw what happened it bothers me and I can't help but speak up with an eyewitness account to help set the record straight.

I agree to what Don and Mi GSD said. Just because GH is very well known he should have had some type of consequence for his actions. What goes for one should go for everyone. Hats off to the judge who Dq'd this person. If this behavior happened in PSA or any other sport the same action should apply. Like I said before Sch has nothing to do with this situation, it just happened that this person was trailing in Sch.

Just leave Sch out of this discussion and stick to the reason it started. Poor sportmanship.

Fullforce:

Actually Schutzhund is a breed worthiness test (or was designed to be) that has been turned into a sport, there in lies the problem a sport pits people(or team) against one another. I my self could care less what any one scores I,m competing against my self and dog team to better our selfs.

They want dogs focused on the equipment!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thats the craziest thing i,ve ever heard.

I,d love to hear names and clubs that promote that? I,d be hard pressed to believe have any one would tell me the dog should be equipment focused. My opinion the sleeve is only a route to the man the man is the target. This is just my opinion and has nothing to do with the above original post.
