So even if this is an experienced handler than we should forgive him/her for bad behavior because of the weather in MI?  Bad sportmanship and abuse (of human or animal) is just that.  Next time I get the urge to kick my dog I'll just say "sorry, it's that time of the month".

Capitol Area SchH club in Lansing.  Was there.  Saw it all.  Can provide lots of witnesses who actually SAW it rather than heard some blown out of proportion rumor.

Dog refused to out after the reattack after the escape.  Judge waived the protection over, dog was dismissed.

Frustrated handler said "Dammit!" fairly loudly and smacked the side of the blind with his leash while walking by it, walked over to the dog, leashed up dog, dog outed, walked over toward the crowd and downed the dog to get his critique.  Judge said "your dismissed", handler and dog walked off field.  There was no screaming and yelling (other than the "dammit"), no kicking of blinds or dogs or anything else, no cussing out the helper, judge or anyone else.

The next day (Sunday) when the handler was given his scorebook and discovered that it had been written in the scorebook that he'd been dismissed for upsportamanlike conduct, then he did get angry, said a few words, got in the car and left the trial.  Partly because, considering the drama that unfolds regularly at SchH trials, a dismissal for a frustrated slip of the lip on the field AFTER the whistle had been blown seems rather inappropriate. Mainly because no one, including the judge, had informed him of that decision.. just wrote it in the scorebook and gave the handler a major surprise the next day.

Got to love SCH and the Bullsh*t.  Perfect example why I refuse to deal with SCH. Most people can not look past their nose. Every club I have been to has been a huge turn off with the people and their attitudes.

PSA is a completely different crowd with great people. Every PSA club I have been to everyone is awsome.. Psa clubs do not carry the attitude that their dogs are the best dog in the world like the SCH groups.

This happens in every dog sport, not just Schutzhund. So to say it only happens in Schutzhund is wrong. Maybe you don't see it yet in the people you deal with in PSA but I am sure it happens behind the scenes. I know a few people who do PSA and the same stuff happens. This type of attitude is always going to rear it's ugly face but each individual needs to be accountable for themselves. and accept the consequences and move on. We all have to remember the actions we take can and will affect the sport we choose. Some of us need to accept what happens the day of a trail and move on to the next and hope it will be better. Life is to short. JMO

Oh yes i,m sure PSA people walk on water and all go to heaven because they have said there prayers every time they go to bed ...give me a break.

There are a lot of ego,s and attitudes in any endivore, PSA  Also I,m sure. I,m sorry you did not have a good experince with the clubs or people you meet  in Schutzhund.

We can,t ask our judges to adhere to the rules better and say "oh well he is just upset" and let it pass we either live by the rules or die by the rules.

I agree with you it is just taken to a different level I have experienced with the SCH groups.. Also the general attitudes just plain stink with most groups... Not saying all groups are like that but most I have been around are... their way is the only way and can not think outside the box for anything..

I normally just lurk here but had to post on this when I see the gossip mill running rampant and untruths being propegated yet again on the internet.

I would think people would have learned as children to avoid spreading rumors and keep their mouths shut unless they know the facts from first hand experience or at the very least have heard things from a very reliable source.

I was at the trial in Lansing and the events that occurred are exactly what was posted in the most recent account by the other eyewitness.

The dog was a nice sable male that was one of the few that day to pass tracking and obedience, but had control problems throughout protection and was DQed by Caputo for failing to out after the escape.

Then handler exclaimed Damn It and struck the blind.  I don't know if it was with his leash or his hand but he didn't kick it.

There was no other curseing or yelling, and no kicking.

He left the field and came back a few minutes later after putting his dog up.

Nothing else occurred the rest of the day with that handler or any other.

I wasn't there Sunday so can't comment on what may have transpired that day.

PSA is relatively new and getting more popular here in the midwest. With time the same crap will happen (like I said it probaly already is) in PSA. Mondioring is also getting popular in the Midwest and the same crap is happening in that sport also.

I too am sorry you have not met anyone nice in Schutzhund. There are ALOT of very nice people(in any sport) but it seems the bad ones always stick out before the good ones.

Maybe it is just in my state as all the clubs are trying to make a living out of it vs. keeping it as a sport which is all SCH is.

Fullforce:  I am sorry you have had such a negative experience in schutzhund.  I guess I'm just lucky, but my experiences through the years,  have been, very positive, for the most part.  Of course, there will always be a few idiots, but they are the minority, don't let the aholes get you down.
