I have been meaning to re-join USA for sometime, now might be a good time to do that....

Dee, Kudos to you!! Your voice in this issue is especially valuable, because you are among the show-oriented portion of the membership. Perhaps this "call to arms" has more cedibility coming from one with show lines than it would otherwise. I would also sugest that USA members convey their concerns and ideas to the regional breed wardens because those regional breed wardens are members of the BAC drawing up the rules and procedures foe the show. Some (most?) are show folks who may have no inclination to se the rules enforced, or, worse, a personal disincentive. :-( They need to be held accountable, too.

I would like to personally thank each and every one of you who have already put your names and membership number to the petition. Some of you I have already been able to send a personal thank you to, because I have your email address. For those I do not have an email address for, PLEASE excuse that and KNOW that WE, the collective membership APPRECIATE your joining together to have your voice heard.

For those who have yet to step up and speak their mind, where it matters most: THE TIME IS NOW! We NEED your voice! PLEASE, do NOT let this GOLDEN opportunity pass us by!

THANK YOU!

Dee I too thank you and wish you good luck. I unfortunately had to let my membership lapse(economics) so can not sign it. But I hope that USA understands that there are those of us who have been members and will be again who are equally concerned.

I'd also like to remind board members that they also need to take these concerns to those who will be running the NASS as usually it is the same dogs that are shown in both shows. Let them know NOW that you want correct unbiased judging come fall and that their feet will be held to the fire.

First and foremost, I am a show line enthusiast, and have titled one to SchH 2 and another to SchH3, both HOT. I also own, train and compete with working line dogs. I have participated in a USA Sieger Show with one of my show line females who did excellent bitework. At that same show (Carson City), dogs were passed whose work was, at best, inadequate, and in many cases, absolutely pathetic. Yet they were also passed and judged as "pronounced" by this same judge.

The work displayed by the overwhelming majority of dogs at this years' show (and the laughable hustling of some of the handlers trying to hide the dogs inability to heel the required distance correctly) is evident to anyone who knows the rules and has ever trialed or watched a properly adjudicated trial or breed survey or Sieger Show protection routine. In each event my club has sponsored, our SV judges have strictly enforced the rules for trials and breed surveys. At a Sieger Show, just as in a club, regional or national level event, there is a level of competency that MUST be and should be displayed by the dogs. Further, when that is NOT demonstrated, the judge MUST have the courage and ability to see it is not correct and judge accordingly.

I call for the resignation of the head judge. He is apparently unable or unwilling to correctly judge the work required of the dogs. We need to start fresh again with people who will enforce the rules.

Finally, the organization as a whole MUST do more to help the clubs and members at the local level foster the correct assessment of temperament and working ability AND help foster proper training of dogs who are capable of the work. To this end, I suggest some videos be created that show proper work and place them on the USA website so all can see what is expected. Unless and until attention is shown to these issues, it is nothing but a hollow slogan that we are "for the German Shepherd Dog".

The DOJ is restricted by the rules and procedures established by the BAC. That is who is setting the rules, and the very low bar, for the Sieger Show.
