Generally the importance assigned to  any dog show is based on how difficult is it to attain a title in each venue and the level of competition.   Of the SV, the AKC, the UKC, attaining a  UKC title is by far  the easiest.  Dogs that cannot not title or Koer or dogs that will never receive a major win at an AKC show can easily earn a UKC championship. In that respect UKC champions are not always the best quality and may have faults that would DQ them from AKC or SV shows.

UKC shows offer a more casual atmosphere where owners handle their own dogs for the sheer joy of it.  Pro handlers are forbidden at UKC shows unless they are handling their own dogs, so it's perceived as more level playing field.   I see nothing wrong with showing a dog at a UKC show, but a UKC title needs to be kept in the proper prospective and not blown out of proportion to look as if it's on the same par as a "V" rating at the Sieger or a championship title at an AKC show.

Since we are on the subject of breed registries and titles, how about Herding titles/tests. American Herding Breed Association, American Kennel Club, S.V. which one is the bomb as far as recognition is concerned?  Ya'll have a nice day.

I tend to prefer the UKC because my FCI registered dog is not recognized by the AKC and is recognized by the UKC.

And that would be another good reason to enter a UKC show. AKC does have a miscellaneous class for specific breeds that are not yet AKC approved.

I like UKC. It is fun and really great for getting your dog out.  They seem to be more open about sport than AKC.

lol - unfortunetley - I dont think Ruby would fit in the Misc. class either - she is a BBS and here they are still GSDs - and they wont even let us into the FSS because of it.

And I think the difficulty of attaining a UKC championship is relative - for me its going to be generally hard because there are NONE of my breed in my area.  To get a win with competiton I am probably going to be going up against the group for wins...and until Ruby is mature, thats going to be very difficult - especially since I dont really expect her mature until three years and right now she is 9 months O.o

Unfortunatley there is really no way to judge what the value of the wins are with the title - because some wins with competition are going to mean alot more than others are.

White Swiss Shepherd -  basically what Switzerland and the FCI came up with as their solution to the WGSD in Europe.
