pfft how about:
omg it is a sl with a straight back that can work and omg I have a couple of them. I really grow tired of the rude attacks and comments on showlines.

Newbie, Is what you have the norm or is it the exception....I have seen many many SL dogs too and I know what I have seen in general??? Now my question to you is if your dogs are not the norm for SL dogs in working....DO you get tired of seeing SL dogs with weak working aptitude????? Cause if you do, I never hear the SL people speak on it; as if its nonexistent, or better yet, as if your few good ones cancels out all the weak ones. Which is it??? Until the SL dogs in general work like your dogs, you are getting TIRED of the wrong end of the equation; and THAT is why it doesn't get better!

"My friend in Czech was offered $40000 for a show dog and he refused not because he did not like the price, but because he loved his dog and they showed up unannounced 6 mo later and offered him 150000 !!! And that is 25 years ago. ( Consider inflation). This my answer: 'It is it is a fad !'"
25 years is one hell of a fad!

steve i -- when i wrote the sch 1 was done .. i did not say the dog was titled. that as you know can only be attrained at a specific age. what i wrote was to imply that the dog had it all down pat at that age !! same with another female i had . bought her in germany at 6 months old , SL , she had the Sch 1 dwon pat by 1 year - the wait was until 18 months - she got tilted . sorry for not making that clear ..

Fair question Gustav but here in America I see just as many poor wl as well ;) A good dog is a good dog sl or wl to me. On the whole I see improvment, careful breeding, and knowledge over monetary gain needed for both. I do not condemn or hold above either one over the other. I hold each breeder/ dog singularly responsible. I love both sl and wl. I will not down all of wl for the bad ones nor will I do it to the sl. I was a working line person in rottweilers usinf them in herding/ sar/ obedience/sch/drafting before I came to gsds about 8 years ago and I apreciate a proper working dog. I also now believe that a dog no matter if working line or sl needs to be correct in structure. I admire many wl dogs out there as well. Here where I live now the wl is the poorly bred all over the place high in population more so than only a handful of sl type. I see problems for both type and I really wish it were just a gsd and not types.

Hi Yvonne,
Dang those ugly, no drive, non athletic showlines. I can't even look at that pic.
Just send Ronaldo to me and be done with it!
That way when Obi get's a bit older, I'll have two almost identical bookends.

Here's the thing: Working line folk and show line folk want 2 different dogs.
We working line folks prize and demand high drive dogs with a ton of heart who love to work. We also think our dogs look better, pretty is as pretty does. We feel the show line dogs are too angulated, not enough drive or work ethic, etc..
Show line folks prefer a softer, low drive dog. They think their dogs look better. They like all the angles, the flying trot, etc.. They feel the working line dogs are too crazy, are coyote ugly, etc..
Nothing wrong with it, just different. We can argue until the cows come home about which is right and which is better, but the fact is that's all we will do, argue, we will not come to a meeting of the minds because for the most part neither side wants what the other side has to offer.
Dysfunctional family, maybe - but still family. Each side thinks the other is the crazy uncle !!
