Ok Gwenith, it isn't working with the Pm's. I appreciate the gesture. No hard feelings between us. Take good care of your beloved dog, who needs you, and is worthy.

I'm done with this pissing match.

Please take my request seriously for supported researchers, by 501 c 3 organizations, regarding the research for the cure of DM in GSD's and other dogs.

I noticed very subtle signs when she was 4 1/2 yrs old. If I didnt know as much about DM as I did, it probably would have gone unnoticed for another 3 years, the signs were so subtle..ridiculously subtle. Only a totally neurotic person who had lived through DM before, who was terrorized by DM would have been looking at the every minute movement of the back feet. I always had her on a healthy dog diet and supplement which probably mitigated the disease, as it usually progresses faster in young dogs because their immune system is stronger than an older dog. She had all the tests, and had the DM Flash Test, which came out positive for the change to the affected allele in GSDS. The Flash Test was found to have the same efficacy of the more invasive testing, after it was studied and compared to the more invasive tests, as time went by, in SYMPTOMATIC dogs. I put her on Dr C's DM program immediately and she went back into remission for a long time. Then, as she started aging, the symptoms became more prominent again. She went down last June, but then began his experimental program, at which time she was able to get up and walk from one room to another- not a huge distance, but she could get up by herself and go from one place to another. She did not get up and walk normally or steadily as a well dog- but she was able to move herself from one room to another, albeit slowly, and stand on her own long enough to drink from her waterbowl. This has all been observed by her acupuncturist, who comes weekly to the house- in fact, during the treatment time, he was here 3 x weekly administering Dr C's experimental program.  The only reason I did the program was because it could do no harm- it just might not help. We ran out of the experimental treatment, no funding, and its been straight downhill ever since.

Marjorie: This may be a very silly question, and perhaps I am misunderstanding, but if you knew what the experimental treatment was, why could you not continue it? Where does loss of funding by Dr Clemmons come into it, was his programme funding the cost of the treatment?

Is this experimental treatment programme published on your website, is it something different to what has become known as the Clemmons protocol?

Yes, the last of the research money he had went to this trial. It is experimental- something new and no it is not on my site or Dr Clemmons web site, one; because it is experimental, and two; we know certain researchers have no qualms what-so-ever about stealing his work from his site, and they not only get away with it, but get rewarded with grants by the AKC, even though theft of intellectual property is involved.     Again, it is also experimental!   Sadly, that is why Dr C quit putting his latest work on the web.    What was used in the trial is not something readily available and that is all I can say about it at the present time. It is not something one can just go out and purchase, or believe me, in for a penny, in for a pound. The other dogs in the trial also responded well. Missie T was at a much later stage of DM than the other dogs.

***Bizarre.  There has to be a higher quality dialogue than this.

It is regrettable that anyone or any dog has to endure some of the issues that careless breeders bring about.

It is also regrettable that someone would try to get a point across by setting the board up. People who have been here any amount of time have seen this enough times to recognize. And that is what this thread looked like from about the 3rd. post on. This is probably what brought about the b/s and seemingly rude comments on a sensitive subject.

jmo,

Rik

setting a board up? Geez- and I thought I was neurotic about DM.  Talk about bizarre...... Who with a sick dog has time for playing games. Oh well, whatever..... Life is too short....

AHA! So you all know each other? Maybe we were being set up.... its a double edged sword, isnt it....

by beetree on 12 April 2012 - 11:04

If you are saying I know Rik, then no, is your answer. You missed your shot, Marjorie. That's about the size of it.

by Blitzen on 12 April 2012 - 11:04

That was the impression I got from beginning, Rik.
