There is not a question if he is listed as a rescue or not ........ I have two books in front of me that list him as a RESCUE (he is not listed in the breeder section). I have provided you two links ........
Happy New Year!!

Thanks for your links. The kids are running the rescue not Ray; I appreciate the links...but it is a mute point if he won't call me back...
This dog was not a rescue dog. The present owner said that Ray told her he paid $2000 for this dog...just talked to her a few minutes ago. Said the original puppy, 3 months old, was so aggressive, she still has bite scars on her hands...it is evident that she could not handle a puppy of this working line breeding...she drove the original puppy all the way back to Oregon from the middle of Montana....He then gave her this other dog...she just cannot handle a dog of this caliber....The DOG may be fine in the right hands...Ray should have had her handle the dog originally, and should have screened her needs better...I am sorry but it is out of Ray Reids hands now..I would just like to know what language and type of training the dog has had.
I HAVE left a message for Ray to call me back, he hasn't and end of story...he does not care and this is one BAD BREEDER/IMPORTER/ RESCUE, IF YOU WNAT TO CALL HIM THAT...
i JUST HOPE I NEVER HAVE ANY FURTHER DEALINGS WITH THIS MAN OR HIS KENNELS...I HAVE HEARD NOTHING GOOD ABOUT THIS MAN....
STEPHANIE
PS; I JUST WANT TO FIND THE RIGHT HOME THAT CAN HANDLE A DOG OF THIS CALIBER....NO MORE RAY REID...
I still can't talk to well from my pneumonia, so will call later when my body settles down abit...thanks,

A few posts back you said, "not everyone wants a working or show gsd that some want a more laid back pet."
I would say a couple of things to this:
1. if someone wants a pet, maybe they shouldn't consider a gsd
2. some of the best working gsds are super laid back and good to have around the household in civil situations
This kind of ties into my thread started in the gsd board about PREY DRIVE: ACTUALLY A FAULT? Perhaps breeding our gsds into these crazed mali-types isn't what the breed was intended to be in the first place... yadda yadda.
Just sayin...

http://awnic.net/rescue_resources/rescue_resources.htm that one lists RAY REID (not his kids).
Did you check to see if the tattoo matches the dog's ear? I didn't see a tattoo in the photo but maybe it is light?
Hope you feel better soon -

DELETED!
I MISREAD YOUR POST, STEPHANIE - SORRY! I REALIZE NOW YOU WERE TALKING ABOUT HER FIRST DOG FROM RAY - THAT PUP WAS A WORKING LINE PUP, WHEN THAT PUP WAS NOT RIGHT FOR HER, HE REPLACED IT WITH THE SHOW LINE DOG IN THE PICTURES.

Hoooboy, them's fighting words!
First of all, all litters are going to have some pet quality dogs in them. What is the breeder to do: euthanize them?? Riiiiight....
Secondly, the GSD was originally intended to be a multi-purpose dog, a dog that could tend sheep, protect the home, be used in military and police service, and still relax with his owner and family at the end of the day.
I do not believe in breeding for extremes in either drive or conformation. Yes, there ARE GSD's out there that are too wired to make good house dogs, but the MAJORITY of the dogs in the breed can, if properly socialized, and taught house manners, make good pets.
However, breeders have to KNOW how to match their dogs with the right owner, and not just focus on making a quick sale.
That, I might add, is the main purpose of the temperment testing done with my Shiloh shepherd puppy and her littermates before I was allowed to take her home. Some of you seemed to think that test was a bunch of crock, but there is a VERY good reason behind it. You don't put a high-energy, dominant pup with strong prey drive in with a household of children and small pets. Nor, as has happened in this case, do you place a trained Schutzhund dog with someone who just wants a family pet, and has no knowledge of Schutzhund.
(I use the term 'trained' loosely. A well-trained, clear-headed schutzhund dog should NOT injure a family member!)

Since Ray won't return my phone call, I have no idea how this dog was trained, it is evident that he gets aggressive when a stick or whip comes out, when he is bumped along side his side with a knee he becomes more aggressive, I told her not to do this as it may be a sign for him to get alert and be on gaurd...
Yes showline dogs should be and are trained in schutzhund....He may just have a screw loose, I won't know till he gets here. Why else would he be neutered???
The dog is being delivered to me later to day so I can assess him. In talking with the gal, her husband wanted to give him another chance yesterday. So they brought him home from the kennel. The dog immediately went into protection mode with the gal. The friend that was a military guy and was able to handle the dog at their place, the kennel, he saw the difference in the dog when he was at the gal's home...the kids came into the home and the dog ignored them at first but when they got close the the gal, he went into alert mode and then started after the kids. The gal grabbed him and was able to get him to stop, but she does not want to have something happen to the kids or anyone else.
She then told me that he was different at her house, than at the other gal''s house/kennel, now a mobile home she had to move into. She said he seemed to be looking into the air all the time...and always very nervous there, and got worse whenever she lit up a cigarrette..
I immediately told her to call asap and get her furnace or gas line checked that the dog was trying to tell her something...sormething was not right here...
Well she just called and said I was right, the gas man came out and they had a huge gas leak in her furnace...they are getting a repair man out to fix it. The guy said as soon as he walked into the house with his meter, it started going off...
Talk about a smart dog...I have always listened to what my dogs are saying....
She is still delivering him to rescue, because he is just too protective of her...I am thinking that he was trying to tell her something and he may get better, but she still is nervous whenever someone has the horse whip or kids playing too rough around her...he goes into the protection mode...
Thanks Steph
