Alyson and Carol I quite agree, and as for other breeds with my daft Corgi I was showing under a european judge at the Welsh KC show last summer. At the moment the Corgi is left alone but I am sure it is a matter of time before changes are implemented. The GSD has numbers on its side when comared to the Cardi Corgi which has such small numbers in the show rings. But the KC shouldnt be allowed to dictate breed standards in the way that they currently are.
Breed standards should be exactly that "standards" which are global and leave a level field for everyone. All breeds will have variations within it and personal preferences which will be as a result of personal interpretation of the standard. This is apparent by listening at an all breed ring craft training session I attend by hearing comments from people who show different breeds and those who judge them.
In our favour I'm not sure of the dog's name but Peter Jolley who judged our christmas show was extremely complementary about the GSD who had been competing internationally at the mixed breed shows and doing very well.

(Incidentally EQ ALL judges are "accredited" by the KC - at the all-breed shows -like the breed specialist shows- the committees are responsible for selecting judges)

I expect that at many shows judges will do much like they have done for years. I've read critiques stating things like good temperment and sound in mind when in fact the dog has been quite obviously nervous when the judge put their hands on the dog for their individual.

I don't care if this is a GSD or Alsation, I like this dog and he is accomplished too!

Know what? The K.C. wouldnt know a GSD or an Alsation if they saw one in their street.... as long as the registration money and any other money keeps piling in, then they are happy bunnies. They have moved to please the TV presenters - but not to please either the breeders / exhibitors or the welfare of the dogs on either side of the fancy.. If they had the welfare of the GSd/Als at heart, then they would only register from hip scored stock etc wouldnt they?
It is clear from above positngs that the Alsationists and the GSD enthusiasts agree on one thing - their breed is different to the other.. so lets ALL UNITE and get them split for once and all. I certainly dont want to go to a show where it will be painful to watch as the animals dont conform to the international correct standard.... and I would think that the people that enter those shows would certainly not want to come to the British Seiger or anything like it.... come to think of it - are there any Alsationists out there that do Sch.H. work? Only asking !
Time for a change South Africa havent looked back have they? Couldnt we now get some good solid basis of costs - and other considerations that would have to be thought of and put in place, and perhaps a few willing volunteers with the right knoweldge and passion to go forward to hold the first meeting to discuss with any interested parties.?

UNITY on this issue will bring huge benefits to the GSD here in the UK. Our breed must be run by our breed enthusiasts, NOT the faceless one in the Kennel Club. Our GSD PARTNERSHIP is the rightful organisation to "take over" responsibility for the GSD in Britain.
