But a strong helper should bring out the worst too.

A really good helper can make a weak dog look pretty damn good.
A really good helper can make a strong dog look really good
The helpers that continuously have to crack the whip to try to increase
the fight or keep the dog active etc are the ones with little to no presence,
those type need to try to keep the dog going with the whip. You will be able
to tell alot about both the dog and the helper the minute the dog goes in to
the blind for the hold and bark. An experienced eye can separate what's training,
whats dog and whats helper.
The really good helpers don't even need a whip
, presence alone is
enough to bring a good strong dog out ready to fight.

It's likely the very last time a newbie with a sleeve ever gets an
opportunity to take a bite from Bomber. I hesitate to use the words
helper and work in this particular case.

Troopscott,
it my understanding that Roxy didn't settle this time around. you may need to go with Catty Mapet x Bomber. I like both Roxy and Catty.
I think you would do well with a pup from either of them.
You would need to ask the owner if Bomber has been DM tested if you are concerned about that part and don't just take it for granted. For that matter, have the females been tested that He is bred to? I recently tested 9 dogs, 3 are DM carriers, and 6 are clear. It is my understanding that Germany doesn't do DM testing, that may be wrong, but I would want to know anyway.
When I watched Bomber he was limping on Rear leg, looked like a possible injury to me below the hock joint. That may have something to do with his "movement". Possibly a reason he wasn't campaigned/competed more...
Wish you the best with your puppy

A good helper will adjust to the dog in training. Then the rest it is up to the dog to use all s/he was trained for on other helpers in trials and competition.
Bomber is who he is, some people like him, some people don't just like any other stud.
We all purchase dogs to our personal needs and preferences.
