In answer to the original question - it would appear not.....
This letter received yesterday.....
Dear Member,
A Special General Meeting is to be held on the 19th March 2010 at 8pm at Aldridge Community Centre.
The purpose of the meeting is to introduce a new rule into the Rules and Regulations of the Association.
PROPOSAL
To include the following rule in the Rules and Regulations of the Association
Rule
A new member is not entitled to a vote at the Annual General Meeting or any Special General Meeting until the following year's Annual General Meeting and this must be a period of at least six months. The qualifying period will commence from the date of the committee meeting at which the membership is approved by the Executive Committee.
Under Rule 5 of our constitution which states the "the executive committee reserve the right to refuse membership without explanation" At present no new memberships are being accepted.
The only members eligible to attend and vote at this meeting are members whose membership forms are with the General Secetary as of 2nd March 2010.
Receipt of this letter is proof of elgibility.
This committee haven't done this themselves - they don't, as far as I am aware, frequent the database and they aren't that switched on! Perhaps AW can shed some light on how they got the idea?
This secretary could not be bothered to send out revised AGM letters so she is going to some trouble now!
This has been arranged when we cannot attend as we have the VPG trial to run as well AW knows.
What trouble they will go to to protect their obedience CCS - take heed other clubs.
This sort of confirms our thoughts that it wasn't worth the fight to have then to contend with those who do not have the betterment of the breed as their top priority but to all of you who pledged support - a BIG THANK YOU
Oh and in the same envelope our offer to run this year's Champ show was rejected - they don't need our help. I wonder if AW will be show manager? My first CC appointment is going to be interesting!!!

We all know you did your VERY BEST for the club
BUT at the end of the day B&DGSDA will be the loser and I hope you can look tho the future
and do what you do best for yourselves and for the breed.
Best wishes for the future

If this new rule gets passed at an SEGM it will not come into force until 2011. Any rule changes must be informed to the KC and will take effect from 2011.
Hope this helps.
Good luck

Nice to know thanks. We thought this, but wondered if there was some way they could get around it. However I think Shirley and I have just about decided that we dont wsnt to pull out a sinking ship if it keeps filling itself up with water again, and this action has shown the integrity of the committee by the reason that they are putting the rule in.
Therefore - Midland Regional GSD I think is the very next step, lets give our beloved breed what it deserves. On another note, shouldnet I have known really who I was working with - no fool like an old fool. I always received £50 honararium. yearly, and 2 years ago our gazebo blew down at our Solihull Ch show. I took it back to Argos, and they argued the point that it wss fit for use and we had used it in too high a wind, as it was only a cheap version. When told that I had left it with them, and got a receipt for them to investigate - I was sent £4.99 for my yearly honararium and told to collect the rest from the gazebo`s when Argos had finished investigating - just an amusing little story, but these things come back to you when you sit and think of the people that are no being so unjust. I am pleased that Andrew has confirmed that he has nothing to do with the forthcoming meeting - however, he has confirmed verbally to me that he DID contact the Gen Sec and tell her the dire consequences of not signing - MO

My question to Peny and Hutch is : Why, when you cut loose, can you not just let go?

By the way, not sure where Andrew Winfrow is at present, but he sure as hell is not sitting on my lap as I type this.
