No need to be a bitch. I said that I agreed with you on your reason for being mad.
But lump removal is ususally cancer concerns. And that is what you took him for correct?
I do not put a dog under for any removal of anything unless truly warranted. And that may simply be for a biopsy.
So maybe I jumped to conclusions about it being a cancer concern. But then again, why even go through it if it is not.
Plus, the holistic vet is a vet as well. Give them your money. That is all I said.

As far as the difference of  your horse vet. Most horsevets still have farm calls. Part of their job. And I state most, not all anymore either.

You keep saying many of us don't get the point of the thread, whereas just about everyone here agrees with your original point exactly and supports it, but the thread has moved on to encompass other issues.  Which threads usually do.

"Gee, perhaps if the vets were as smart as they were greedy, they would've realized that it doesn't pay to piss off a breeder who owns 7 dogs, 2 cats and 3 horses. They just lost approx $500 per litter in health certificates alone. All for $39.50. I hope they're pleased with themselves."

LOL, actually, all the vets I have would've fired you as a client long ago, with your 7 dogs, your 2 cats, and your 3 horses.  Your hatred and distrust of veterinarians is palpable, and the fact that you continually skip around from vet to vet and continually proclaim that we don't understand your point means you are never satisfied.  $500 per litter for the aggro wouldn't be worth it.

I am sorry you've had such bad vets, they certainly do exist, but it sure seems like you've met more than your fair share.   I'm even more grateful for the support and help of vets I've had in the 5 different states I've lived in over the years.

"some of you are suggesting that I just need to shut up and let them do what they want to my dog because some day I might need their help"

Who said this?  NO ONE said this.  It's statements like this, blanketly misconstruing what people say that is most likely exacerbating your issues with the vets.  No one said "shut up and let them do what they want to do with my dog" - no one said this, but you take and twisted it into that and are now you think that's what people are telling you?  Wow.

Tess,
Some of the crap you post is amazing! You talk about others taking what people have said and twisting it, when you in fact do more of it than most.
For example:
"It amazes me that you expect to have all this knowledge at your disposal when you need it, and you're furious that you have to pay for it."
Where is it that anyone said that???????????????
Move on. You only seem to want to goad people in to arguments. Ridiculous!

Hey, Tess, learn to read or shut up. You think I'm never satisified? Why? Because YOU and YOU ONLY don't understand my point? Everyone else got it loud and clear, and like you said, AGREED. Why must you continue to pester and try to provoke me? Make me look stupid and "ridiculous" for caring that much about my dogs? Are you a vet? Related to a vet? Best friend a vet? What's the deal? Why are you taking this so personally when I have tried politely to end this thread; it's way past its useful shelf life.

Let's see if we can't tie this up neatly one last time.

It is quite common to go to more than one vet- say, you have an ortho specialist for hip xrays, a large animal vet for well, large animals, and then the day to day "regular vet." I am always seeking the absolute best for my animals, and if "the best" is 7 hours away, then load up the car- we're on our way. If you need a rabies shot, then go to the convenient vet. If you need spinal surgery, go to the best. How does that equate to being so aggravating that $500/litter isn't worth it? I think you are really painting with a wide brush. I post ONE bad experience related to money-grubbing (and I had a damn valid complaint!), and you deduce that basically I'm a pain in the ass and all vets you know would fire me. Interesting lack of critical thinking...kind of reminds me of the vets I have a problem with. Hmm.

Oh, and one more thing you missed with regard to my lack of established relationship w/a vet: I JUST MOVED HERE! Good grief!

Also, convenient to skip my posts about the vet I like. Just gloss right over those and attack me for <gasp> thinking I should have a say in what I pay vets (who work for US, when you look at it critically) for.

HBFanatic...I have no idea what you're talking about. Sorry.  Not only am I a bitch, but I guess I'm a stupid bitch. <shrug>

OGBS...well put. I should've read this before I bothered posting again. I guess my temper got the best of me. Not the first time, lol. NOTHING gets me hotter (in an angry way,not a sexual way, LOL) than someone f'ing with my dogs. Nothing! So when someone tries to insinuate that I have any other motive behind a complaint I raise, I take it a bit personally.

Ok...deep breaths now.

The issue I see here is NOT what to vaccinate when, NOT whether to speuter dogs, NOT the prices, but that specific orders were given and not complied with.  That bothers me because a few years ago, my husband and I looked into adopting a GSD mix with unknown history who got very aggressive when given sedatives.  They told us to make sure that if he ever needed surgery to let the vets know to NOT give him a sedative first (I'm not sure how common this is, but they were neutering him, gave him the sedative before putting him out, and he got really aggressive with the people whereas normally he's a submissive mooch).  So when I read this story I wonder what happens when this dog's current owner (friend of mine) brings her dog in for a surgery and reminds them not to give him any sedatives and they ignore this?  Or a dog with known allergies, drug reactions, drug interactions, etc....?  Should an owner assume that all the techs are incompetant and that they need to assist with the surgery just to make sure simple instructions are followed?

At the very least, the vet and the vet tech involved should be aware that this happened so they can remind their staff they need to be careful and pay attention to the dogs' charts.  People make mistakes, things get lots in communication, but I would hope the vet staff use this as a reminder and a learning opportunity.
