Mystere,

It wasn´t you who talked about swiss trainers, it´s just that I hear that confusion so many times from americans, so I thought I needed to point out the difference

And no, I don´t think e-collars necessarily needs to be abusive,  but I think we all can agree that the less corrections a dog and trainer needs to be able to perform well the better, or? Obviously many feels the need for e-collars as a correction-tool, otherwise it wouldn´t be so common. But I´m also curious, if people can reach very far, even to the top without e-collars, what do they do different ? I don´t think it´s e-collars that makes people reaching to the top, if we look at IPO, guys like Ivan and mario aren´t exactly winning because they know how to use an e-collar better than anyone else, or ??

If someone need e-collars to reach far, which I don´t think you need, is it something wrong with IPO then, it seems most common among IPO/SCH-trainers. If you need an e-collar to win, why is that?

And yes, placing good on competitions doesn´t make you an expert, there are people who work with real workingdogs for a living that fix the majotity of trainingproblems without any special tools, people who really are good when it comes to dogs and their behaviour.

Why is it you need an e-collar to win? Well, because sports have morphed from a test for breeding into a "flash" contest. A dog who isn't fast enough and flashy enough can't win, even if he does everything perfectly.
