Boy. Did this thread ever go in the toilet?

Indeed it did.  To bring it back to the topic-- Breeder Disclosure of Blue and Liver,  and intelligent, non-flaming discussion of the specific situation disclosed  (see link provided by Silbersee)...

I did a pedigree search on this webstie of the parents.  I didn't recognize any names from "the list," but that list is now so old that it is not surprising none of the names would be found.  Running a 7generation pedigree of the sire, Canto v Wienerau shows up waaaaay back, and I "think" I recall seeing his name on "the list." .  But, he does not show up in the dam's, at least not that I detected, and I ran her's back 7 generations, too.  Some dogs that are often seen behind current working line pedigrees are behind that pup, so it would be very educational for breeders et al to know where the color came from.

If breeders wouldn't "hide" their "off-color" puppies among Christopher's clients, we might have that type of information.

Good luck getting most to admit to off colors, and the Germans sure as heck are not going to give it up..

I have been nothing but straight forward on my blue dogs. I am not ashamed of them, nor will I deny having them. And YES, I did want a blue to schH title. That too I have been nothing but straight forward about,,I'm tryingt, but I am VERY MUCH the NOVICE. Hell, it may even take me 5 years to get the BH on my dog. Too bad the BS didn't transfer over to a shepherd title.

NOW, I HEARD IT THROUGH THE GRAPEVINE, that some of you are planning an attack on me and my dogs. Other than it being a hassle, BRING IT ON!!!!
I really NEVER thought blue pups could cause such HATEFUL, remarks,by people filled with hate. The same people that have nothing better to do, than search ads and posts to attack someone, ANYONE...     In Memory of my Boy "Blue"

To those with Access (and Language skills) for the European boards discussing this topic and specific pup:

Can you enlighten us on the German/European take on this?  Any theories regarding the possible source of the color?

This breeder clearly discloses for blue and Liver.  He also unabashedly breeds specifically for the liver color, which he calls "chocolate" with a view to increase it in the gene pool.  He has thirteen and I must admit, I love the names he gives the liver/chocolate dogs.   He is also breeding blues with a goal of creating a 4-generation pedigree dog.

To each his own.

More importantly for some of us, he is willing to assist in identifying the sources of the dilutes for people who want to avoid it in their breeding program.

Another unabashedly breeding "off colors" (and one with OFA Excellent!!!): http://www.geocities.com/angelicshepherds/males.html

It is difficult to tell that some of these dogs are not standard colors in the photos.

Blues and non standard colors have been in the breed and there is no reason to hide it... its not lethal. The dog cant be shown.

As for the infamous lie list.. it and many other unfounded internet lists have been posted over the years. The male we owned and had purchased from an outside bloodline never produced either blue or liver..but was listed there??? Go figure?? Our bitch lines now 4th generation have not produced as such..but I also never had a longstock coat until last year one in a litter... so who is to say it will never happen.. if it does then a non breeding non show home would be fine..and no determent to the breed that is pure bs as there are so many fine dogs from our breed available. Its not like we have a rare breed with a small gene pool for heaven sake (G).

Mystere, I am NOT wuzzup, she is my sister, GSL is my EX. Since I have been on this board, 3 years now, I have always stated I have Blue shepherds on occassion. AND EVERY TIME, you people want to slam them. I put Blue's pedigree on the post about Blue Shepherds in SchH. You DEEMED ME LIAR!!!
So, now I show the blue pup in question, and yous want to report me to SPCA, some even griped over my dogs being overweight. C'mon now.
Three years ago when I was looking into a new dog, my GODthe slamming of the long coats that went on was outragious. Now that long coats are going to be accepted, they are allowed.
You want to say I am after attention, WRONG, but attention should be given to the Blue dog. It is the same dog regardless of the color. And Blue color does not have a DAMN thing to do with temperment.
Granted, some blues may have ski conditions. MINE DON'T. How many posts have there been about, red and black, sable, solid black with allergies.

The way I see it, It is a good thing the European boards are talking aout it, maybe "The truth about the blues ill come out. Be it good, bad, or indifferent, The truth may set us free(from all the negatives that go along with a blue) I really never thought that admitting to blues was so awful.

Thanks Shelley, Blue really was a Great Dog!!!
