I very much doubt whether English people in the 60s made anything of thinking he was "West German" - or any sort of German, - in fact they were more likely to be negative, I think, in only the second decade after WWII.

Here you have it from horse's mouth so to say,...or from New Black Panthers Leader Quanell X. He basically is saying the same thing as I am:

For years now I have referred to the democrats party as the New Plantation owners. " You vote for us, and we will give you enough free stuff to keep you content, you won't have to pull yourselves up by your bootstraps because we will do everything for you. All you have to do is vote Democrat and we will take good care of you because after all, you are not able to care for yourselves, not your fault, but you need us to provide for you. Just stay on the Plantation, keep your problems there, when you are angry, just riot and burn your own town down, cause we will give you more stuff and rebuild for you".

Interesting. I didn't know that policies such as Affirmative Action were designed to keep blacks in the ghetto. Ivy League universities have lower admissions' standards for certain minorities because they want them to be able to get out of their current circumstances.

Then you have the fact that many whites use these social welfare programs, in fact, they were originally intended for whites. Blacks were allowed access later so welfare was not created for blacks or to keep blacks down. Welfare did not damage the black community (for lack of a better term) but rather it addressed issues in a community that was already damaged.

And why is it any random black man suddenly gets labelled a spokesman for all blacks? I guarantee that most black people don't know who Quanell X is.

Prager:

"And yes in principle Germans of today are the same as Germans of the past. What do you think European union is today,. It is way for Germans to rule over Europe. I lived in Germany and I loved it there but I did not want to live there because I, Czech - Slav, was just another Untermensch never mind that Czechs have 300 years of same history as Germans and are generically 2/3 - 3/4 Germans. Oh yes I was treated well just like blacks are treated well on open in US, but intrinsically I and my Czech and Slovak compatriots were just shit. My friend Alexander B. with whom I defected had grandma who was German thus he claimed German heritage and he was accepted but was also told that there are different levels of German heritage. A1 ( or something like that ) was person whose parents were both German and then one parent and one grandparnetn was A2 and then B1,2,3 and C1,2,3...... and one 2 grandparent and one grand-grand parent and on and on . And in the mix was also if the person was born in Germany or other country And on and on. I as Czech was nothing and it showed. I spoke perfect German and had German friends...I thought. Until I misspoke and it was clear that I am not German and when I asked I said I am Czech. All those so called friends melted away like snow on hot oven. My friend lost friends of 14 years when they realized that he is not German by birth even so he was already a citizen. My nickname is Hans every time I talk to Germans and they realize that I am actually not German I here "Oh" and attitude is changed. German SchH judges are perfect example. You can dress pig in a tuxedo but in the end you will have a pig...."

I really feel sorry that I read this statement, normally I don´t tend to join the off topic forum, but at least now I know what I am dealing with...

In case you "lost" your friends because of "not being German" I feel sorry for you, but I guess the problem has been your personality, not your heritage.

Don´t tell people you spoke "perfect German", and Germans thought you are German, until you "misspelled" - after 30+ years you still don´t speak "perfect English"....

Does anybody in the USA believe you are an American by birth? I doubt it...

And please, don´t tell this nonsense about "levels" - http://www.brasil.diplo.de/contentblob/3916072/Daten/1266160/Anlage_Vorfahren.pdf

In case someone claims he is "of German heritage" ,and wants to become a German citizen he has to proof it. Tell me how other countries decide about heritage in case of naturalization? Personally, I think my country is very open minded, particularly in case of East European applicants...a grandma/dad, and you are fine....

Within the European Union Germay, France, the United Kingdom ( Good Bye ), Netherland, Italy, Sweden pay for countries like Poland, Greece, Hungary, Romania ( including Czech ).

So "it is way for Germans to rule over Europe" ?

There are racists all over the world, and for sure there still are some in my country, but we learned our lesson, the majority of people work against Fascism and Racism.

After all, I believe in people, not in countries, I really like the statement " Me having issues with you has nothing to do with your DNA but your behavior."

Why the heck do you even make your living with GERMAN Shepherd Dogs? It doesn´t matter if you import them from Czech or from elsewhere, by HERITAGE they are GERMAN dogs...

Susie you are funny. I would not expect different response from a German. But that was my experinence . You act like you were there when I was realizing general German bias against Slavs . You say it was my personality. It is funny that those people realized that my personality is flawed right after they realized that I am not German but that I am Czech. I will say that I was never directly told anything derogatory directly but it was more then obvious what German thought about Czechs and Slaves in general. I am sure there are exceptions.

And yes I used to  speak perfect German since my mother spoke at me German from my childhood and I was taught German since 4th grade which at that time it way 15 years of so. Where I have learned English only after I came to US after I was well over 25.  What matters is when you start learning.

And FYI I have not "misspelled" I have "misspoke". Also SchH Judges when they come to US change their attitude when they realize that this Hans is not German. And then you ask: "Why the heck do you even make your living with GERMAN Shepherd Dogs? It doesn´t matter if you import them from Czech or from elsewhere, by HERITAGE they are GERMAN dogs..." That is pretty silly. Look I do not dislike Germans I just do not want to live around people who treat me like Untermensch. German shepherds are great dogs. Germans created many amazing great things from art to technology.

Oh and thank you for posting the link . It just proves my point. You ask :"Tell me how other countries decide about heritage in case of naturalization?" Well when I came to USA they did not ask me any such nonsense . They did not care of what was nationality my great - grandmother. They asked me where I was born and they asked to what parents.  In US if you want to claim citizenship by birth then basically you must be born here or to US parents. Anyway if you want to go into details about it look up 14 amendment to US constitution.  None cares about your Great grandmother. Where Germans as your form proves go into   it with great detail. .

Anyway my point is not that they are trying to determine persons  heritage but that the level of your "Germannes" is determined by such scheme and then such evaluation  goes with such person  for rest of it's  life.  I wonder why?  I mean any country can make any criteria they want but if you ask me this  is quite pathetic bigoted and racist.  Even you think it is OK

Prager - you have a very simple mind problem. If someone says they are a German, and someone, somewhere did you & yours a dis-service sometime who was also a German, to you they are all German, and all Germans = the same as the first one.

If somebody is black, and someone, somewhere did you & yours a dis-service sometime who was also black, to you they are all black, and all the same = the same as the first one.

If someone is a Muslim, and someone, somewhere upset you or yours by being a Muslim, they are therefore all the same; and all to be feared, hated or mistrusted ...

So I ask you: if, as a Czech, you do me a dis-service today, does that mean ALL Czech people will be horrible to me tomorrow ?  Or that I should go around in anticipation of them all being horrible to me ? Or that I should continually spout my mouth off about how horrible Czechs are ?

I proofed your point? Think about the difference between "naturalization because of heritage" and "naturalization because of intention"....
There are no "level" passports Shades Smile - it´s a simple "yes" or "no".
This procedure was introduced for the sake of people, not for their disadvantage, it shows their right to get a German passport without further questions.
But like always everybody is free in his opinion.

My hometown right now:

a little less than 185.000 inhabitants
out of that a little more than 26.000 people that are "non citizens" +/- 14 %
and 56.000 with "migration background" +/- 30 %
In this statistic they don´t count "German immigrants" by heritage,
and they didn´t count yet the amount of asylum seeking people from Syria and other countries.

http://img.welt.de/img/wirtschaft/crop128231175/1779595945-ci3x2l-w540-aoriginal-h360-l0/DWO-WI-Migration-OECD-3x2.jpg

USA around 320 Million citizens
Germany around 80 Million citizens...we are a country of immigration.
and without immigrants my country wouldn´t be what it is today.

You felt mistreated? In that case you made the best choice of your life in leaving the country, seeking your personal luck elsewhere.

Prager

by Prager on 04 September 2016 - 17:09

My point was that the levels of "Germanity" levels then go with such person for rest of his life. No it is not on his passport but it always lingers in their background.
Mistreated? Oh no I was not mistreated . Everybody was polite. But it was fake polite like when you call phone company ( in US) and they say: "OH!!! I am so sorry you have problem" . And you know it is fake and they can not give a rip about being sorry. The politeness was required formality. But Germans had hard time to hide their feelings towards me and all others when they realized that they were only Czechs. Also US military personnel was broadly hated too and especially blacks . As a matter of fact when on leave they must not leave barracks in their uniform. I am sorry but it was so. I have not other reason to say this. Otherwise I would have loved to stay in Germany and I could have. I loved Bavaria where I lived and German Alps around Garmisch-Partenkirchen. I must also say that I have not encountered such attitude of negativity from German emigrants here in USA.

Immigration into Germany in comparison to USA.

Well many emigrants go through Geramny that does not mean much. I was one of them. According to Cesus Germany has Foreign nationals living there at: 7.7% And US has 42.1 million legal and illegal immigrates in USA which is about 13.3 % and they come here to stray . So It is USA who has percentage wise more almost 2x more emigrants living here Immigrants ( 1st generation) then Germany .  And this is a fact  through out the history of US which is not sountil recently in Germany.
