For my purposes I prefer a "green dog."  I might look at a KNPV titled dog but the good ones go for a lot more money.  I would test a SchH titled dog  along with others but I wouldn't expect a whole lot.  I'm not looking for sport dogs I am looking for Police dogs

I'm not knocking SchH titled dogs, I love SchH.  If I was looking for a sport dog it would have more bearing.  It can take a lot of work to convert a SchH titled dog to do the work we want.  There can be several issues ranging from sleeve / equipment fixation, constantly targeting the arm and passing up more advantageous areas of the body.  As well as getting past the hold and bark.  We do not do a hold and bark so that training is counterproductive.

In addition I am not interested in someone's dog that has been previously trained and may contain some baggage.  If the dog was really great he would probably cost more.  We can screw the dogs up all by ourselves, we don't need to have some one do that for us.

 Hi Hans,

I saw the digital hip xray that was taken before I purchased her but haven't had her hips done again yet.

I do plan on going the OFA route.

I thought the bark and hold (versus find and bite) was pushed forth widely through legislation due to liability issues. Reasons being of what happened decades ago among LAPD, police dogs being too aggressive. Bark and hold was introduced to lower legal risk.

You know when I first started looking at dog and had no clue of what all was involved I thought 6500 was too high.  Now after seeing the time and effort that goes into training the dogs and then those breeders/trainers guaranteeing that the dog will performed as pomised I can certaily say that $5000-$7000 is completely fair.

Most people won't know until they actually see what goes into it themselves.

mpaurk05,
Good article and it explains exactly why we have gone to a "find and bite" and have moved away from the "hold and bark."  That article saved me citing all of the case law involved with the use of force and K9 deployments.  I can list many other reasons for not using the hold and bark with PSD's.  You could also research the number of bites in agencies that use the "hold and bark"  vs  agencies that use the "find and bite."  I'm sure you will find agencies that still use the "hold and bark" have many more bites and much more liability.  The bark and hold definitely does raise liability and legal risk, IMHO.

eurosport sells for the most part  good dogs.when you get one there is no guarentee.i have purchased 5 dogs for breeding.they wikk get the dog you want and are real helpful with helping set up a breeding foundation.josef spends a lot of time going to test and check out the dogs they sell and also breed themselves.
