Handsome dark sable male with excellent secondary Sex characteristics, Pigment excellent, well shaped head with striking expression. Good neck and withers, better front angulation than most working line Shepherds. Good depth in body, especially on a young dog. Croop is somewhat short and steep, tail therefore does not blend as well with the curve of the rear as it might. Rear leg angulation is good, but could be a bit more. Pasterns seem proper, feet could be a bit tighter. Overall a very impressive fellow. Best of luck with him.

Hi ibrahim,
I was down and out for a short while, I'm back now and my knee is fine. Thank You.

It's always a plasure to critique a beautiful dog, more so when he comes from working lines.

Above medium size, strong ,grey dog of very good proportions and type .

He has a strong masculine head, very good ear set, dark eyes,a good mask ,
and good planes , giving a very good expression. At maturity he will have a better head.

He has high withers , a firm ,long ,level back and a croup which is sl.steep and short ,
I'd prefer a better tail set. Still showing a good top line.

Good front angulations ,where  the upper arm is sligh steep and slighty short.
The hind angulations is very good, I'd prefer a better turn of stifle.

Good forechest development for his age . The depth of chest is at it's limit
and should not get any deeper. Shows a good under line with good tuck up.

The front and hinds  are good.

Hi Ibrahim,

Thank you.

I have given many  a critique of G S D 's, those during judging of shows is easy
as the dog is in front of you.

Its those given over the net, where only photos are looked at. The photo's at times may
not reflect the true virtues or shotrcomings of the dog.
This is no fault of the owner or the dog.

As such  I may not be correct in every detail that I comment on .
It would be good , if  the owners or those people who have seen the dog,
and have some knowledge of the standard, are willing to discuss the particular
incorrect points, in a constructive manner.

I ask this  of critiques' I make, not anyone else, so please do not take offence.
For I believe, this will create awareness of the requirment in the standard.

This will also help me , to improve and be aware of my shortcommings.

 Dear all and dear Sonora,

Sorry for replying late but what I did is I went through all I learned and gathered of conformation info, a lot of that is actually from members such as Sonora and AandA, I even revised some previous critiques by Sonora, DebiSue and others, I revised all the old discussions by members such as Preston, Rik and others. I also checked thoroughly all my dogs on site physically and tabulated all the results and made a comparison between all and verified with each one's movement and the results were fascinating indeed. Here I will give my evaluation of Erri and do the same for Orwell in his own thread.

Very good type dark sable colored male and secondary sex characteristics.
Above medium strong large size male
Good overall expression
Good proportions
good unmistakable musculature and bones.
Dog is fearless and very confident, alert, not submissive, a little on the dominant side, good energy and shows very good activity levels, agility is just good (not very good). Does not show aggression towards other dogs. Dog is doing a good job at herding sheep but sometimes when there is a stupid sheep he either hits with his both hands or bites her slightly on the neck without actually hurting her, seems like he makes sure he does not injure her, a threatening bite only.

Large head, excellent ear set and ears, medium dark brown eyes of good almond shape, very pronounced stop, tight upper lips but jowly in the lower lips and a bit loose in the  throat skin.
A strong neck of proper length and angle to the body.
lay of blade is not good enough and needs more lay to the back and therefore causes the withers to be flat and to look low, an unmistakable dip is present right behind the shoulder blades which are too close to the neck. Lay of upper arm is excellent and length is good but can use a bit more of length. Dog coming shows excellent straight forearms, pasterns strong and of proper angle, front feet are tight, pads are close and well developed, toes are slightly long and rounded but could use more rounding shape in them.
Good height at the withers, 66 cms, chest depth is 30 cms making the ratio of chest to total height 45.5%.
Good development of the chest forward and good width, ribs are well sprung.
Strong back and a good top line ( only good, not very good). loin is of good length.
Croup a bit stepped and short, tail set a bit high, tail is very good and of proper length.
Rear angles are good, strong hooks, and joints are very good. Feet are tight, toes are short and rounded, pads are tight and close.
Dog shows very pleasant side gaiting as well as strong movement in the rear part. Dog moves strongly and confidently with no clumsiness.

The above is to the best of my present knowledge of the dog, hope this is of a bit help Sonora.

Sounds like you need to get rid of him Ibrahim.  Guess you'll just have to ship him to me so I can take him off your hands.  Tsk Tsk.

Seriously, you have done a nice job of putting it all together.

Thanks DebiSue, I am happy you're still following on this one, and I am more than willing to ship him  to you, he wouldn't dream of a better owner where he might get good training that he deserves, he would make a real competitor for your bitch in tracking and keep his nose down and no food treats, lol.

Hi Ibrahim ,

Thank You  for responding,
from your comments, he is a fantastic dog in mind and body.

I still find his front angulation and lay of shoulder blade correct,
It's the upper arm that is slighty steep.( not  45 degrees to the horizontal )
I may be wrong.
