Triodegirl....I am glad to hear that you and your dog are both safe. Always good to see that when it does happen your dog doesn't freeze up. I found a group that does train for exactly those type of scenarios. They do a home invasion late at night while you are sleep to test the dog when they feel it is ready. That to me is something that id like to see. I think a lot of videos on the net to show PPD dogs are always on a field or something. I will say that people want to see scenarios in which they feel will certainly happen, like a home invasion or break in or other scenarios. Great videos PL.

Ace 952 Yes I do similar trainings. Just a little advise, make sure that the good intentioned neighbor does not call cops or shoot you in the back:)

Thanks Ace

We have been discussing a home invasion type scenario, with teenagers/mother at home
We will have to figure something out that creates more good discussion and ideas.

Excellent advice as well Hans, sometimes people forget the most obvious safety precautions

If real LIFE BITES  is what you are training for. This is how it looks. Set up realistic scenarios and if you are police then use real scenarios ( after the dust settels) for training. Take a note that in all scenarios certain presence,"smell", charge and tension is in the air.... Dogs are perceptive  to that and conditioned by that. The videos below are very educational. There are many videos like these on Internet. There are other scenarios, Building search, track and bite, and so on.  :

I've seen this one a few times and it never gets old. The baton across the forehead was a nice touch.
