I could care less what you do actually but yeah....you are bat shit crazy.
Stubborn and uncooperative? Not hardly. Maybe to people who try to work with him in sport fashion.
What you wrote is just proof you have absolutely no idea what Caleb is like. No idea whatsoever. Furthermore.......there is no reason for you to know. Yes he is a great looking dog. His hips will be fine for breeding to the right bitch. People get way too obsessed about hip x rays and not enough to environment and diet and how that can affect genes down the road. As for getting his genes out there.....there is no reason to. If he was bred once or twice that would be great. Keep back a couple pups and move on. Yeah after 35 yrs you don't know anything. 35 yrs of doing it all wrong. The sad fact is that you will never realize it. I can care less what you do or who you do it with......except not with Caleb if I had any input on it.

So.. You are Caleb's new agent.. Is that it? I see.. Now it makes sense.. I hope you aren't the one who she told me she was talking to. LOL.. THAT would be an experience for her.. LOL
Dogs like this are interesting to look at, but too big for work. I know.. I had one. He had strong working lines, so he was valuable to me for breeding.. But.. He, himself was NOT a working dog, IMO.. More like a Rottweiler in GSD form. Working dog departments have been dropping Rotties, partly because they have just gotten too damn big! I've seen smaller, sport / working Rotts, and they can be really good. The trend for working dogs is for lighter, faster, more versatile dogs. More endurance and longer lived / lasting. Big dogs are a curiousity for novice puppy buyers. I am not in the pet puppy market, so personally I don't want this kind of a dog.
It's a type worth preserving, nonetheless, because diversity is desirable in any breed, but I have pretty much zero respect for people who don't consider contributing to a breed and try to hoard bloodlines for themselves, exclusive sales and so on. That seems to be the trend, nowadays.. But, let's call it what it is.. It's not about the dogs, is it?
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Again.. If I am bat shit crazy, why ask my opinion? Obviously then, if I think the dog should be bred, then my opinion on the matter is worthless, by your own account, and I am probably wrong on the matter... "right?"

I like how a thread about my WEBSITE turns into a thread about my best friend, and now, he's being insulted simply because someone tasted some sour grapes.
I shouldn't even respond to this sheer lunacy, but HOW DARE ANYONE make derrogatory comments regarding the temperament of a dog they HAVE NEVER MET!!! I have been ignoring this thread's detour, hoping it would simply go away, but I can't sit back and read this bullshit anymore.
The facts:
He is far better in temperament than he is in looks. THAT is why he should be bred. If he's bred, it will be a very carefully planned breeding taking into account his unique traits, as only *I* know them. Scout is a close second, I admit. He has spent many many months with this dog over the past 4 years and trained him in facets most people aren't aware exist. However, he would be quick to agree, he is a one person dog to an extent, and that person is ME. I know him better than most people will ever have the privilege of knowing their dogs. Why? Because I value our relationship, and along with that comes respect and responsibility. He is not a dog for everyone- I will concede to that point. Guess what? That's why I haven't bred him and will never breed him for the public! I know who he truly is, and he is NOT just his (albeit gorgeous, LOL) exterior and bison-head. When I want to breed him, I will. I will choose the best bitch to complement him that I can find. And it wil be a bitch I know WELL- not a pretty picture along w/a great xray.
People who contact me simply on his looks turn my stomach! I have a list of those who have been following (for YEARS) things I've done w/him and said about his temperament, who are interested in a pup someday. The sewing circle wanting a big black dog w/a gorgeous head can jump in a lake.
Stubborn and uncooperative? WTF?! The dog is practically telepathic. I hardly have to say a thing to him. He's no pushover w/strange men ordering him around, but IMO, that's the way he should be.
So what that I haven't sent his xrays into OFA? Who cares? Am I advertising puppies out of him somewhere and claiming he's been certified? He's not OFA certified. No secret there.
Asking for additional opinions on an updated xray is hardly asking for breeding advice! I don't keep 64 zillion dogs at one time- I keep a few, a few I know very well. IMO, that's the only way to make sound breeding decisions. I have NEVER APPROACHED ANYONE ABOUT BREEDING TO CALEB. I have a stellar bitch imported with him in mind that I will eventually decide if that's the right combo. Maybe he won't ever be bred. So what? The chances of another Caleb are slim to none anyhow. I'm a realist- I know this. Like you said, DDR-DSH, "if he gets hit by a car, it'll be par for the course." Let's wish ill on the dog whose owner is selective in breeding decisions. That shows good mental stability, no?
Enough of the catty, roundabout insults. Bat -shit crazy or not, slinging snide remarks and planting seeds of negativity toward an innocent dog who is NOT FOR STUD is just an amateurish, immature thing to do. Pathetic, really. Get a life and leave my dog out of your childish vendetta. See a shrink, get a self- help book, watch Dr. Phil- I really don't care what route you choose, so long as you detour around my dog. You have plenty of dogs, as you keep harping on, post after post after post. Go do something with them!
Over and out....................I need a drink.

Wow this is like a move secret friend secret dogs and secret frozen semen. Will we get to see this dogs
or is that a secret also. Rob

by DDR-DSH on 09 April 2010 - 18:04
Oh, Schaferhund! I have missed you! I see that the ankle biters are all joining in the fray! LOL.. I think I'm going to back out of this now, simply because you all are not worth my time, anymore. This will only go downhill and that's a bet the house won't take, for any money!
Matter of fact, I'm going to make some headway on my lawn.. I see a new mini-training field for my dogs and I'm 2/3 the way there. Why waste time with this crap?
The doggy dating site is a good idea.. Now, maybe you can all go make a big pile and wiggle around in your own juices. Ugh.. sorry for the ugly visuals..

Rob, LOL. No secrets here. The dog is named Caleb von Schraderhaus- Scout is my friend, who has trained Caleb extensively. No secret semen- no collected semen at all. I'm an open book;-)
by Schaferhunden on 09 April 2010 - 19:04
I'll bet Jenni78 does not ask $3000 for her puppies.Maybe i should talk to her
Rob

by Jenni78 on 09 April 2010 - 19:04
Well, Rob, you are sorely mistaken. My non-existent puppies are so exclusive that I will be asking at least $10,000 for my pick- and $7000 give or take for the rest.
Speaking of puppies, I have a few real ones squeaking! Yay! So far one black female and one bicolor (maybe sable- he's not dry yet) male. These puppies are not exclusive whatsoever, and really are quite crappy, if you all remember my ad. They won't fetch more than $1500 a piece. I guess my mansion will have to wait!
