DebiSue

by DebiSue on 29 January 2010 - 19:01

I'm sitting at my desk looking out the window at gray, dreary skies, 4+ inches of snow and it's still coming down.  Temps somewhere in the 20's and a north wind blowing the snow sideways.  We're supposed to get another 2" of snow by evening.  All this talk about sunshine and blue skies....sigh.  Can't wait to get home and curl up with a cup of hot cocoa unfortunately I won't be able to rest as Echo will want to go play.  She loves this stuff.  I was trying to shovel the patio off and create a path from the backdoor to the garden shed and Echo thought I had created a new game.  She kept pouncing on the snow shovel when it was full, knocking the snow out and looking at me for instructions to this new game.  Hard to be angry as someone who cocks her head sideways, tongue hanging out.  I don't mind the snow...I love my changing seasons.  Here, you never know what the weather is going to do.  If you don't like it, wait a bit and it will change.  I'm glad you are getting settled in Shelley.  Sounds like a great place to park it for a while.  I look forward to your humous postings.  (Echo has a thing about paper also.  Tissue, paper towels, toilet paper, newspaper...the occassional library book...grrrrr.)

Yeah... She ain't gettin' no purdier. Ha ha ha. I can't decide whether to trim her up so she looks more like a regular chee, or to try to fluff her up with some leave in conditioner and a blow drier.

I can SO see Debi Sue trying to shovel snow with Echo's help.
You may keep the changing seasons my Dear, and welcome to them!

Pharaoh

Shelley,

Did you find the closet rod holders?  There are two sets of them.  They are white and two pairs.  You won't need much lumber for a closet.  You can install one in the wall and then drop a verticle support from the ceiling to attach the other one.  I had that done in my garage to hang a curtain/room divider.  The way it was done was to attach a two by four by 2 feet or so to the ceiling, making sure to screw into the joists.  Then nail a verticle two by four by 1-2 feet or so ino the end of the attached 2 x four in the ceiling.  Then put an angled cross brace from the vertical to the horizontal.  Then attach a closet rod holder to the vertical.  Measure the distance between the rod holders and get a rod that size.

Can you orient the bed in the other direction?  Then you can use the end of the room and run it from one wall to the other, all you would need is a closted rod brace or two.  You can put a shelf over the rod and attache the brace to that.  You can probably put two shelves.  There are sliding closet doors that hang from tracks mounted on the ceiling.  You can buy very inexpensive hollow core doors and cut the height to fit your space.  The width of the doors isn't critical as they bypass each other on the tracks.  I don't remember how wide the room is, but you can use two or three doors.  That will keep the poochies out of your closet.

Very ingenius! I'm thinking I'd better get the roof fixed before I try to fix anything to the ceiling. Its about to fall in in a few places, both rooms. 50 years this roof held... till I got here!  LOL I'm thinking I might be able to install the closet rail in the bathroom for now, (no leaks in there) drape a sheet over my biz clothes to keep dust off.

Its weird when I think of all the stuff left behind in the asshole's house. I have HAD two portable closets, still in their boxes. Its like my house burned down with no insurance. Hard to get used to not just reaching for something (ANYthing!) familiar that one has long owned.

Then again, the things Pharoah brought me are way better newer than the like items I have HAD in Lehighton! :-D
I am never going to get tired of California sourdough toast from that neat red toaster.

You know, shoveling snow is like that with Oakley, too....

She can't see the shovel, so she listens for where it's at, under the snow, and before I can lift and throw it, she pounces on it with both front feet.  Good thing I've only had to do that twice this winter!

Glad to hear that you're getting settled, Shelley.  And I like the blue color of the carpet visible in the pic of your pup on the couch...Like that a lot better than the light sage green of my carpet...MIL said blue would show more dirt, so she picked green!

Actually, this carpet is wine-bottle green. I Photo-shopped the dirt and bits of tissue Xena likes to spread all over the place out, but didn't adjust the color right. Ha ha ha ha ha.
