I guess you guys chased off Amin, could you do the same thing with Alyssa ?
At least Amin probably would have bought a few rounds for the house.
Alyssa sounds like she'd cuff ya and grill you with a rubber hose.
Maybe not a bad thing, I haven't seen what she looks like in a leather thong and heels.
I couldn't think of anything to say about training or clubs today, thats my story and I'm sticking to it.
At least until my lawyer shows up.

Its been about 50-50 around here. My biggest problem is with the so-called breeders who give their buyers the impression that out SchH club is a place where they can get FREE training and behavioral advice in lieu of actually paying a professional trainer for same. Everybody knows I don't charge club-members and sports-friends for help outside club hours, but I'm tired of spending time on the field with non-club-members who show up here, often unannounced at inconvenient times, who have no intention of ever competing, just want free training... and so is everybody else in our little group. Several have shown up here this last year acting as if we are at their disposal, like its some God-given right because they bought a too-expensive dog, not so much as a BH behind the dog for 2-3 generations, from so-and-so BYB, (said breeder having retained "breeders rights" more often than not) The breeders actually expect us to work our butts off to train their crappy dogs for them and their buyers while they sit at home, count the money they got for those dogs, and produce a few dozen more a year. A couple actually think they are doing us a favor sending their pet customers out here. The next one who tells me they really WANT to come out and learn to train the dogs they breed, as soon as they send the 3 litters of pups they have at the moment and the 2-3 litters expected any day now to their new homes, better not hold the phone to close to their ear.

I don't blame him. I was under the impression that the sport was for all breeds of dogs that could be trained at the pace of the owner of the dog, and any dog that had the ability to learn the routines. I have seen several shepherds and others at the recent trials I attended that were not any different than my bosses Schnauzer in how they preformed.
I guess Schutzhund may not be for me if me and my dog are going to be judged like a cake bake before I get started.
It is funny how standing nearby several conversations at recent events, I overheard some harsh ridicules of people and their dogs. THis may be how visiting clubs and their events as a newcomer , lends us to see, Maybe this is for only experts and only the Rich and Famous.
IMO

Over here i can honestly say that i have never heard one chuckle or bad comment when folks mess it up. what you do get is a little groan from one or two but in despair of things not going right at the time
Last Saturday i was at a trial
My friend Rinus was the Judge, it was at a neighouring club to ours but i have trained there on several occasions
One dog from my own club and Rinus the Judge is also a member, this fellow who i know well was taking his dog for its BH
off leash he messed up the Judge gave him a chance but it was not taken as you have to score not less than 70 points but you must do all the routine, anyway he put his hand up his own club member failed, so did not go on to the traffic section. five dogs went for the BH two failed it
Then a member from the club where the trial was held went for his SchH1, now i have seen this dog work many times on the same training field it being his home ground, But on tracking he lost it after the second corner, on Obed, he was not bad but was not his normal self, and his protection was pretty good
But he failed to get his SchH1, I think the crowd put the dog off a bit and his handler was a little nervous
Everyone said to the two Guys from there clubs Not to worry there will be another day about ten folk shook there hands No one laughed or said anything unkind. It is not so easy as we think we can talk it easy but on the day things change
Take no notice of what is said on here find a club to suit you and enjoy yourself
Not you or anyone else has anything to prove to no one, you only do it for you and your dog no one else, just stay relaxed when you are working on the field go about it as if you are the only one there, that is the best advice i can give you

Luvmidog,
I think you have just been to the wrong clubs. There are jerks and iditots everywhere, including in schutzhund. Thus far, being stupid or being an ass is not illegal or (unfortunately) painful or even uncomfortable.
Don't give up--just find a better club. :-)

I am not rich - nor famous - and I am no expert trainer - I just want to train my dogs. Schutzhund clubs are like any other endeavor - there are good people and there are people you cant get along with. Everywhere you go there are people that you either like or dislike.. No different in Schutzhund clubs. Some area's have alot of club's that you can visit - other's not so many. So it does limit.
The sport is for all breeds - not all breeds are cut out for schutzhund. At my club you have to do all three phases - tracking, ob and protection - obviously my dachsund couldn't do the protection. He can't reach the sleeve...lol..
As far as your bosses Schnauzer goes - a man by the name of Montel Brown - in Atlanta - has giant Schnauzers that compete in Schutzhund - and he placed very high in the world with his dogs. So don't under estimate your bosses dog. Montel's dog's are awesome.
This particular thread had to do with a particular person - not the schutzhund club world as a whole -as least that isn't what I got out of it. Some people ran with the fee that my club charged for evaluation - and that to me wasn't the issue either - I guess each person picked what they had issue with - each club can set fee's as they see fit - The main thing is - if you have a dog - that you think can do all three phases of schutzhund - then search for a place to go....What area do you live? You can go to the USA website and find a club near you....
Anyway - I have booked a one way ticket to Belgium - I am on my way to Steve1's club. I plan on having a beer after training - have my dog's at my side - my oldest dog anyway - and sip some suds and talk about dogs with Steve1. His club is for me...I am on my way Steve1...My club doesn't serve beer after training....his does...
