So......This is an old video.  Been already discussed, huh? Figures.

s.v.-----Some of us are always objective.........even to the point of ignoring subjective, subtle digs with amused tolerance. (LOL)

Blitzen-----I know......should have acknowledged you when I quoted your "Huh" , but it was just such a perfect response...what can I say.....hands just typed. (LOL)

AS a retired police officer you don't know thw whole story just the unfortunate end. The sound wasn't working on my computer but it looks as if he was on the porch, he hadn't made a direct threat but refused to drop the weapon. They may have needed to get to someone in the house. My guiess is that since the K-9 is an officer at least in my old dept, they were hoping to shoot him before he got the dog. If the sacrifice was to help a potential injured person in the house unfortunately it is a trade off that had to be made. It opened it up so they could fire on the dirt bag and end the situation. And yes I guarantee the officer was devastated they love those dogs like family it is a bond that only a K-9 officer can understand.

Maybe the dog slipped away from the handler?  Happens at training once in a while.

Powerhaus, no, I asked that question too, and got a response. Please read all the posts:

Both died (perp and dog) mistakes were made for sure, but I am not going to second guess what happened or who was at fault.  And the dog was sent to apprehend.
