Now I know where "The Arsenal of Democracy" idea originated. Oh, and the internment of 100,000 Japanese American, too.

Let's just gloss over those...

Capitalism was behind the genocide of Native Americans. Ayn Rand, who Hans and other conservatives adore for her championing of capitalism, actually stated that she approved of the genocide of Native Americans. This is a documented fact btw. It's not even a case of her saying it was a necessary evil; she didn't even think it was unfortunate. She had zero sympathy for the Indians. That's the same mindset that Hitler had when it came to the Jews.

Does this mean capitalism is bad? No. Just that any ideology can be used to justify any immoral act. And in the cases of Rand and Hitler it shows what happens when an ideology is taken to the point of becoming religious. It attains the same qualities of infallibility and moral certitude as religion.

Bee, We didn't gas the Japanese we interned. FDR is known as one of the top 3 presidents ever by many people. But hey I am so glad you brought this up but have no problem with the genocide of millions of native Americans at hands of mainly Christians.

Where do you get off saying, "...(I) have no problem with the genocide of millions of native Americans...)

In the famous words of R R, "There you go... Again!"

Just that you seem to be forgiving to one group because you are in that group. See for me I can't be apart of any religion "group" that pulls atrocities like that. I can't be a Christian when I know what they have done to people over the years. I just can't do it. If you can then great.

Maybe you need to just stop yourself from making ridiculous conclusions based on non-sense.

@Hans: WTF is "representative democracy which promotes capitalism..." ? A democratic election is a democratic election; one or more competing parties might espouse capitalism as a way forward, but there is no such thing as 'democracy' which only promotes one viewpoint - then it becomes NON democratic. And they don't produce dictators ? Hitler was ELECTED in 1933; Mugabe and Marcos also came to power through the electoral route. These are 3 examples where elections seen as relatively 'fair and free' initially placed their country in the hands of an individual who then gradually destroyed that country's democratic systems. Egypt under Morsi is widely reckoned to be headed the same way.
