Suzy, I was born and raised in Europe, so, that last comment means very little. I have spent the time you mentioned training, still do, every morning at 4AM when everyone else is sleeping, but, if I were looking for a title, I would have to join one of those organizations where the politics and drama live. The people you mentioned that train in snow and rain and sleet, they dont do it for nothing, they want to title their dogs and the only way to do that is to join one of the drama inducing places mentioned above.

It´s always you who decides what you want to do - nobody else - and as long as you want to train and / or title your dogs, you simply don´t need to care.
As soon as you want to make money out of your dogs, you need to care, it´s pretty simple.
And you are right, that´s not an "exclusive" American trait, but I´m thankful that, at least in my area, most people still do care about training and developing their dogs...

Politics you will find as soon as the money is more important than the dogs and the training.
There are exceptions to every rule, but looking around, this seems to be the rule, and that by a landslide.

GSD admin have to respectfully disagree with you about old style czech dogs, you are right many breeders today breed with west sport dogs and sell it as "czech dogs " but there is definately a difference between old style czech dogs and modern sport dogs, the old czech dogs were not bred for sport/points, fame and money, they were borderpatroldogs and to be suitable for that task they needit a pretty different balance of drives than todays sport people are looking for
these type of dogs are the dogs I fell in love with and they are still around more, but you should know where to look, but dont expect them in the top of IPO competitions , and even some of the west/czech mixes bring some great dogs that could be labeled as old syle czech dogs

Short answer to your question would be videos tell you nothing of a dog are the trainer/ very minimal. You can make a crap dog look like a star with a few clicks on the edit buttons. The only way to make accurate assumption of dog is to see dog in person, hopefully see parents, and grand parents. Test them in different environments with and without equipment.
ive never seen a non creditable breeder be in business for more than 10 years. The usually get washed out like weak nerved dogs at an evaluation .
If you were to give a description in what you needed the dog for and your plans for such dog that would help us help you in your search

Duke1965. I think you are wasting your breath. You will be acused of BS marketing. At least if they are consistent they should accuse you of that . That is since that is exactly what I am saying and that is what I am being accused off.
