Its beyond ridiculous... there hasnt even been a word invented yet to describe what it is... I would cry but I am much too frustrated to cry... I am so damn sick of politics. Its the devil's spawn. Our gsds are dropping like flies all because of politics and that just doesnt sit well with me. At this point I dont know in which direction to go. He is slapped down at every turn. He cannot help our dogs because the system is rigged and flawed. He isnt out for glory- he is out for our dogs but I guess compassion, good intentions and a real quest for the truth doesnt mean squat in this insane world. I guess the AKCCHF and the OFA dont read. If they did, they would have read the latest studies and seen the SOD1 is not even in the running, anymore, as the cause of ALS, which has zero to do with GSDM. One size does not fit all and it never did. I guess when one doesnt care, their minds are made up and they have zero desire to be confused with the facts. People go along with it because they think it cant hurt to test, but it does. The blind acceptance of wrong things hurts because it stops other research in its tracks. In another 10-15 years, after a generation or two of OFA tested dogs, people will see the end result, and my words will come back to haunt them, but by then God only knows how many more GSDS will have fallen. By then, the breed will be so innundated that it will be impossible to breed it out, with everyone breeding within their own subsections of the breed, for their own chosen venue. The bell is tolling for our breed and that just kills me. Needless to say, sleep will not come, tonight, for me.

is there a website or email where people can write to erge the university to start a "project" and even if it's funded by donations?
seems like a little encouragement from dog owners is needed.

Thats what I thought but he said to wait until he speaks with them again. The sad thing is that The AKCCHF gave a $100,000 grant to another researcher who duplicated the stem cell research already done by Dr C. Politics at its finest :( I am just so so frustrated. I watch our dogs dropping like flies, and politics decides who gets the research money. This is not a game- its life and death. :( We dont even have the money for a grant writer :(

You know, Abbey, I feel the same way. I feel like I lost Missie T for NOTHING! No progress, just politics as usual., and the beat goes on :( This just made the pain of her loss come whamming back to me. :(
