Sorry , Marj. I know how much your dogs mean to you.

When I entered the information for my first GSD, dead at 71/2 from lymphosarcoma, I received a call from his breeder asking me not in a nice way to take down all the information.  I was wrong about his sire, he had never made that breeding and I should have told him privately about all his health issues. Truth was I did try to tell him, left phone messages and emails, none ever returned. I said if the sire is wrong,  you made the error on the AKC application.

Maybe some hesitate to add information to the health site because they fear retaliation from the breed big names. I didn't take down that information BTW and received some good lashings on this board for lying about the call and about the health status of the dog.

Without the truth, there is no hope for the breed, Sue.....

You know I work in rescue.. My path has crossed, since Missie T passed, many times with ones I know I could dearly love, but I cannot bring  myself to ever have another GSD..Too much is hidden. I would not survive another bout with DM. I do believe I have PTSD, after dealing with DM for 7 years, which is why my presence is so lacking lately. I will always love this breed, but I can never have another.  I love Missie T's breeder- she is wonderful and we are very close, to this day. She is like a sister to me...She bred many champions but she stopped breeding because she was lied to, too many times. Sad, very sad... I personally cannot trust people who dont lay their cards on the table. I cannot understand why one wouldnt want to do right by the breed, if they breed. Breeders are supposed to be the caretakers of the breed. Even the ones who WANT to do the right thing, cannot, because they are being painted into a corner by the ones who want everything swept under the rug. I think the tables need to be turned, and the ones who dont want problems discussed should be given a hard time by the ones who do care. Until the breed is taken back by those who care, nothing good will happen in our breed. :(
