Does anyone know if has been proven that both parents must be carriers and/or affected in order to produce offspring that may be carriers and/or affected? Last I've heard and read it has not been proven at this point, so it greatly concerns me that any dog would be bred that is a carrier. Having a dog with DM, I hate the thought of pups with DM being unnecessarily produced. This is really an awful thing to see your dog go through and since it can be prevented, for the betterment of the GSD breed why take chances? Please correct me if you've heard differently.
