Stacy, boy you are sensitive! If what I said was "really rude", well I apologize. Tone doesn't come across well on a computer. I was just curious how you found the time for 5 dogs (which I thought u had 6). I have been working dogs for too long and I find it hard to juggle family, friends, household chores and dog training with one dog. I give you a lot of credit. I am not in search of the WUSV seiger, but I do like to train my dog to the best of my ability. That usually consists of spending on average 30 minutes, 5 days a week in obedience, 1-2 hourd tracking with letting the track age, at least 4 times a week, and then there are the club days. Twice a week, which kills a weekday night after work and Most of Saturday.
I'm just amazed that you not only "make" the time, but have the energy to fulfill this plan. I couldn't possibly imagine what it is like to multiply the time I put into one dog by 5. That is dedication defined! You must own stock in Red Bull!
So if you don't mind me asking, because I keep hearing about this "plan", what is it? You sound like you are planning on breeding off into the future? If you are, you better lose the "sensitive" side. As you can see on this board, being a breeder requires thick skin, as does being a handler in any sport.
As to your question of the kennels with 10-15 dogs, most of them don't do anything but maintenance with them. Some of them buy titled dogs that receive zero training after they buy them. They are simply bred.

Not you Sam... I didn't think your comment was "really rude" :-) It stung a little I guess but I didn't cry hahaha!! You have actually been very nice to me. (Hey you saw how easily I bruise LOL)
I was actually thinking back to some other comments made by other people a long time ago that had hurt my feelings. I'm over it now, but it just brought back memories.
Yes, some day I would like to breed...but I didn't want to go the "buying titled dogs" route.
For me, personally, I want to work each dog myself. Learn their strengths and weaknesses firsthand. I want to know each dog through and through, so I have a better idea of what traits I would need to improve on.... Because I am only 3 years into owning the breed, I figured that would also give me a little more time to learn more about the breed before I plan a litter.
Even if all my dogs get titled, they still may not be suitable for breeding for one reason or another.
So I may never be able to breed a litter, and if that is the case, I won't feel like I was ripped off in any way because I bought them with the hopes of titling and competing some day but knowing it may not work out so I also chose to raise them as pets. But if they (one or more) do work out, I think it would be much more gratifying (for me) to breed dogs that I raised and titled myself, and know very well, than just buying titled dogs so I can "be a breeder".

P.S. I don't know if I will ever not be sensitive, but I'm trying to be less so ;-)

As you know, I don't do training for Schutzhund.....however, last summer when my dog was a puppy, he just about "did me in." I had bites, scrapes, and bruises on legs, ankles, arms, hands, sides.....I was a mess. So, I bought some Kevlar Sleeves, Motorcycle Gloves (with fingers out), X-Tall Rubber Boots, and Flannel Shirt -- in 90 - 100 degree temps !! Not to mention that I looked like a damn fool !! My arms were such a mess, that I wore a long-sleeve shirt to a doctors appointment because I didn't want the doctor to see all my injuries -- HA!
This summer is wonderful -- no more biting, jumping, knocking me down -- now he is completely "ball crazy" and doesn't know when "enough is enough." "My boy, my boy" - LOL

It'll be nice once I get faster and start wearing proper gear.. I don't want my doctor to see me either! Hahaha!!
It's nice when they grow up...
Oh and to add to my above post, I have nothing at all against people getting titled dogs to breed, BUT for me who has a lot to learn still, just wouldn't be right... I'd like to breed, just not yet. And with all these marks on me, I'm rethinking producing a whole litter that will abuse me for 8 weeks ;-)
