Have you ever thought of making it into a dating service and pen-pal site for dogs? I'm only half-kidding, you know.. Something that crazy might really take off!!!

I like to mess with computers, sometimes. I might be classified as a computer hoarder! I have old Macs and a newer one and several PCs running XP, one with Linux.
The point being that I have acquired almost all of my PCs second hand and the craziest thing.. One of them had extensive information about the owner written to the hard drive. One had the mother's name and place of birth, a social security number, name and date of birth.. address and phone number.. everything! That person put all of that info on the hard drive and seemingly didn't know what else to do with it, and eventually gave it to a thrift store with all their personal info.. sufficient for identity theft! Just crazy!
I also found a pen / flash drive in a restaurant that had names, addresses and SSN's on a whole shitload of people.. all were apparently case files of a medical care worker. NOT encrypted or anything. I finally found the department it came from by looking on the drive, but didn't want to get the case worker in trouble or be accused of stealing it. So, I just wiped it and kept it. Value about $25, and I could use it. Think what MIGHT have happened if a bad guy had gotten it!!! If someone gets your SSN, they can wipe out all of your social security benefits without your even knowing it, and almost impossible to undo the damage. It's not just a matter of reporting it and recovering your assets. The assets are gone.. used, stolen, and the social security department doesn't want to eat that..
One guy who started a list I'm still on, ten years ago, wanted to be bold.. upright, honest guy and wanted to make a gesture that he had nothing to hide, so he made a post to the list, giving his complete family history, including his grandparents names, etc. Good grief!!!
I have a question.. "Why are decent people so foolish?" Why do we feel that more rules and more disclosure on our parts will make the world better and prove to everyone that we are on the up-and-up? The rascals out there just FEED on this sort of folly. Rules don't bother them a bit. Rules are made to be broken and rules make rule-obeyers more vulnerable for them to prey on. I cannot tell you how many times I've been called out on lists for using a pseudonym.. LOL.. "Who are you, and why don't you use your real name?" I never took the bait. It's none of their damn business!

It's OK.. It's her dog. She can do as she likes. Believe me, I understand. I don't / didn't like to do breedings, either. Big pain in the ass.
Someone bought Alf vom drei Lindengrund.. one of the 3 or 4 top Don Rolandsteich sons, from a local dog broker. He became their pet. They would not allow him to be bred, either.. huge waste! But, I heard they had money and didn't care. So, whatcha gonna do?
For me, it is unimportant.. I am working with one foundation line, now and it's a completely different type of dog. I have limited space / time / money and it will be all I can do to work with what I have.
I just hate to see such an interesting dog go like water under the bridge. They only come around once in a great while. I had a dog very much like this one, many years ago, and I produced a few from certain bloodlines I had, back then. It's just sad to see something like that go away, most likely forever. We've lost a LOT of diversity in the gene pool, over the years. Once it's gone, there's no getting it back.
Sorry.. That's just how I feel about things. I respect art, culture and anything else valuable or interesting, worth preserving. I see purebred dogs as an element of human cultural heritage. I believe that it belongs to all of humanity.
'Nuff said..

YOU have never met that dog, never worked that dog and YOU know nothing about that particular dog.
I happen to agree that he SHOULD be bred but only after having known and worked him on and off for several years. Just in the last year was I sure about it and even then only to certain bitches.
"Pimping" him out as you say... is ridiculous!!! Not many people are going to really appreciate the finer qualities he brings to the table. Simply getting his genes out into the gene pool is preposterous. That is why there are so many poorly bred dogs.
As a matter of fact finding a bitch that would compliment Caleb is not something I would take lightly.
Structure, hips and pedigree are just a starting point. There are thousands of dogs out there with those qualities and I would not feed most of them.
You know you ARE bat shit crazy right????

You don't know me.. But that doesn't stop you from making a round assessment and write off. I won't stoop that low with you, but I can see that you are rude and like to provoke trouble.
"Pimping" is a joke, you know.. But, if you want to get your hackles up, go ahead. I think maybe you like the drama of confrontation. <yawn> BORING!!!!
I had asked for a friend of mine if Caleb was available for stud. I am not interested.. got enough dogs, now, and mine are a joy to train and work with, not stubborn and uncooperative, as I have heard he is.
I had heard that the Thüringer Kronjewelen dog sire of his produced good offspring, Nice, yes.. but looking at them, I don't see one as extreme as Caleb.. But this same friend of mine just imported a drop dead gorgeous black SchH1 Dargo granddaughter, and she looks like a female version of Caleb. Young bitch. She also has frozen semen to go to that many serious enthusiasts would think to re-mortgage their house to get... a titled Don Rolandsteich son, out of a Bero vom Baruther Land daughter. Good people and reproductive specialists to assist, too.. So, I think she WILL be able to get what she is looking for, without all the begging, groveling and controversy... especially regarding the hips. To me, the hips are acceptable on Caleb.. But that will never satisfy the ankle biters and nay sayers who love to gab and gossip on lists like this..
FACT.. No one knows what this dog will produce until / unless he is bred. And, time is running out. If you bred him tomorrow, it would be a good two years before you even know if you have anything. By then, the dog is approaching ten years old. I got news for you.. A lot of older dogs don't even WANT to breed a bitch, if they have not been trained / allowed to breed as a young dog. Of course, he could have knocked off a few pieces while running around the neighborhood.. .
Meanwhile, I still have frozen semen from my old dogs to use, including grandsons of the famous dog I mentioned, linebred to produce big bones, heads and solid nerves, strong drives and good trainability. ALL were OFA certified, for what it matters..
