Just heard the Greater Washington DC schutzhund group will not be renewing there UScA membership another 25+ year old UScA club leaving!

I wholeheartedly agree with Sue... All of this flag waving with the Battle Hymn of the Republic being "hummed" in the background has been a little too much to take. I know people that have been in dog sport for 25+ years, and they have never felt a need nor desire to belong to another organization. There are issues both with and within this organization that are far more problematic than this rule change. Who knows, I try and be optimistic... Maybe this rule change will "clear the air" and be a turning point for the better.

I,ll wait and see what happens when GSDCA-WDA is done with the wusv trial and then GSDCA again decides that the WDA is more of a nussance and that there usifullenss is over they will be left to twist in the wind then the big question will be will USA take them back?

I,d also be intrested in knowing what the precentage of show line people in these clubs that are leaving are we loosing show line or more working line people it may be intresting.

I did chuckle when I went to GSDCA-WDA web site and in big bold letters there asking for all kinds of help from members for commetties for the WUSV event... I,m sure there counting on disgruntled USA members to make a big contribution to this since they have no experience in large events of this magnitude.

I didn't renew; I decided to go with DVG, which is more compatible with WDA. I have NO idea how my club is going to handle it. I guess I'll be fundamentally kicked out.

A question for those Americans who are also members of SV and  who are resigning your USA membership in protest because you do not think USA should try to tell you what to do:  Is it true the SV has a rule that  you cannot belong to them and RSV2000 at the same time?   I remember this thread where the subject came up regarding qualifing for FCI Championship:   http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/bulletins_read/307168.html#313551
Will you also be resigning your SV membership in protest since you do not want to belong to an organization that tells you what other organizations you cannot belong to?

Excellent question Sue.

Well, it's true that I don't like being bossed around, but there are more questions...for example, some Rottie people have been coming to our club. They can't belong to UScA because they don't have GSDs, is that correct? So what if they want to formally join? Doesn't a club which has more than GSDs wind up kinda out in the cold?

I guess if it was important to someone in the U.S. to the RS2000 and they were anticipating showing dogs in their events, that question might be germane.

The question is germane because apparently for some people this is a  question of principles.  I have complete respect for people who stand by their principles regardless of whether or not it is convenient, but to do otherwise could easily  be construed as  hypocritical.  If someone is resigning USA in protest because they think USA is restricting their  their basic liberties then it should follow that  these same people will also have resigned  their SV memberships for the same reason, regardless of whether or not they had any intention of ever joining RSV2000.

Of course if those who are members of SV and USA would rather belong to WDA that's fine too, or if they are angry because USA is making them choose one or the other, that's understandable, but when  those Americans who also belong to the SV try to make this about the principles of freedom and tell others they should resign in protest because it's all about their right to belong to any and all organizations they choose, it begins to ring a little hollow for me and just sound opportunistic and disingenuous.

You are not required to own GSD's to be a member of the USA. Of course that could change next year after this idiotic by-laws change passed.
