BUMP

by Eric Eisenberg on 23 October 2009 - 10:10

There are two ways to be the tallest building on the street. You can nock the other buildings down or build your building taller.

I  hope all clubs and individuals will consider dropping USCA membership if this amendment passes. In the United States of America there should be freedom of choice!

Eric S. Eisenberg

(ps.for the record I dont care for the title of this thread but the topic is important)

I would just like an honest answer to the politics behind this ammendment?  I agree with Johanes Grewe on most of his ideas but I,d like a full explanation on this one.

The full text of his explanation is rather long but basically his argument is the GSDCA does not support the true German shepherd, so to be a member of the WDA is a direct conflict with the mission of USA to preserve the working German shepherd.

Perhaps if all members (all who are aware, anyway) send a letter prior to the vote, stating that they will choose to end their membership if passed, and mean it, they will change their minds.

You see I agree with that I don,t believe the GSDCA has the true working dog in mind so I can,t argue that, I guess my problem is being told where and when i can go by the orginization I belong to.  There has to be more to it then that?. I don, t belong to or support the GSDCA or WDA but i don,t need the orginization that I pay for it,s existance to tell me where I can trial or participate instead they should offer such a truely inspiring venue and program that I have no desire to go any where else.

I agree with you Bob. I am only a USA member, but I don't want them telling me I can't be a WDA member if I choose. But in Johannes' argument he believes that if the WDA continues to grow it will torpedo the USA's affiliation with the international organizations (WUSV, etc.). So by banning USA members from also supporting WDA it strengthens USA's position with the WUSV, FCI, etc. What I don't think he realizes is that a lot of people will stick with WDA and drop their USA membership, doing the exact opposition of what his amendment is trying to accomplish.

by Bob McKown on 23 October 2009 - 13:10

The other reason I won,t associate with GSDCA is there cozyness with the AKC who i believe is the biggest promoter of puppy milling and genetic deisese,s in existance. And for the AKC to be promoting bitting sports after there long and distinguished history of bad mouthing bitting sports is as 2 faced as you can get.

I guess we will see how it comes out in the wash, If they do pass this ammendment there had better be some real pressure put on USA to improve the venue and support the working dog in it,s true form.

You know in my opinion the SV is as guilty of destroying the working breed as the AKC has. There is a alternate orginization to the S.V. in Germany.

I know I,ll be trying more AWDF venues next year.

For those of you who may not know. The president of USA has written a response and I must say it  is compelling and well thought out. He presented a lot of accusation and they my very well be fact? However, at the end of his response he wrote "We are ASKING you to make a choose"  My response to that is, they should ask and not force us to choose. The Berlin wall was not built to keep people out, it was built to keep people in.  That's what this by-law change will do. One last question how will this by-law change deal with the Life Time Members?

If we are truly the best then lead by example not by force.  Also, USA, GSDCA, GSDCA-WDA, is not a breed registry this is or ever will be recognized. People choose to breed according to the FCI standard because the want to.  Someone told me once that "What you eat, don't make me shit"  How the GSDCA breed their dogs has nothing to do with the way USA conduct their business. The President also said read between the lines, I have, and this is only about the WUSV Team People. Wake Up.
