Eco jobs pay much less then traditional jobs.
If my husband and I were forced out of our jobs and the only job left were environmental jobs, we would have to take a 1/3 pay cut plus 3/4 bennefit cut......

No lawyers can run. No lobbyist need to show up. You will be shot on sight.
We'll have a UFC style contest but without violence. You step in the ring and plead why you should represent us. Get ready to debate all comers. Elligible Voters bring your own paper, pens or crayons. Nothing but local press. The elections on paper ballots. If, you can read and write. You can vote. if, not tough shit come back when you can.
Rules for new congress. Each bill should be no longer than a paragraph. Decide what we want out of government find a way to pay for it. Institute the death sentence for Ceo's that over charge the tax-payers when buying supplies for the government 1700 dollar toilet seat etc... If, you over charge the military. Execute CEO and spay and neuter his/or children. Ban their children from ever holding office or doing business with government. Fell free to add your thoughts. Since, it's not 100 degrees I'm talking the dog to the river.

Hi MickyD. I imagine most people are like myself, on some issues I have very conservative views, on others I have liberal views, on others my views are moderate, and on others I am clueless and searching. I am currently a registered Democrat, but I wasn't always and I might not be in the future (who knows!), and I sure as hell don't vote according to party lines. I don't think most Republicans or most Democrats can be pigeon holed or defined as any one thing, positive or negative, just by party affiliation.

GM did make a hybrid full size truck...The Sierra was made in a hybrid model, as was the Yukon SUV and the Chevy Tahoe. The reason I wouldn't want one, is that those batteries that make it a hybrid, are very, very expensive, as are the additional electronics that on them.
From what my dad, who worked in a Chevy dealership for many years told me, you can spend more than 10,000 dollars replacing the batteries, if they fail...Kind of expensive.
As for the economy, all the politicians and their greedy little lobbyists are to blame for where we now sit, as are the people of this country.
At this juncture, we are so far into the hole that I'm not sure there's a way out, even if we didn't have a spendthrift president and congress in control. The solutions would have to be so far reaching that too many would scream about the unfairness of it all.
First, the amnesty thing needs to be burned, trashed, deleted. Send all illegal aliens (regardless of their country of origin) back where they came from, along with their "anchor" babies. Close our borders. No one emigrates here from anywhere else for a while, since we can't help ourselves and others at the same time. Cut off all foreign aid...Our own people should be our priority...We are not their saviors. Give incentives for American companies to keep their businesses here, but if they choose to leave, heavily tax them on everything they send into this country, or block it altogether. Just cutting off all foreign aid would free up a lot of money that could be invested into finding alternatives for energy, including viable hydrogen technology, solar power, and geothermal energy.
Social Security should be available on a sliding scale to retirees...The more you have in savings and retirement, the less you need from SS...I know, I know, they paid in all their working lives, but let's face it, if you've got a fortune saved, you don't need it, and the little old man that is living on seven hundred a month needs it way worse than you. Since SS has been wasted on so many other uses for which it was never intended, a bit of rationing might be in order.
In order to help the health care system, lawsuits need to be curtailed, as does the outrageous cost of malpractice insurance. Doctors should be accountable for mistakes that cost lives, or quality of life, but these huge, huge payouts are only benefitting the rich lawyers who fight these cases, not the patients, not the doctors. If payouts were limited to a reasonable amount, then perhaps medical costs could go down. Also, drugs should be cheaper here, as they are in Canada. Refusing to let them patent drugs might be step in the right direction since anyone could make a given drug and that would lower the cost.
There are many ways to change the economic course, but one has to be willing to upset certain groups of people to do what needs to be done. There ain't no free ride, folks, not for anyone. Throwing money at a money problem will never solve the problem, no matter which party does it. And for the greener environment, you can't demand that people spend a fortune when they are broke, unless you want a total economic and social collapse, along with civil war. I don't want that. Do you?

Hybrid automakers are required to warranty batteries for 8 years and 80,000 miles nationwide OR 10 years and 150,000 in states that follow California emissions regulations. They cost around $2,500.
