Hi Kelly, how is mom's temp. Have you tried chicken noodle soap, I like it because it has the water in it when I am concerned that they that water intack is low also. The puppies are so cute.
Always,
Cee

Hi Kel,

Congratulations on a big healthy litter!
Sam started having her pups at 7:45 this morning, so far there are 2 boys & 2 girls, one of the girls is solid black,
and the rest black & reds.
You had us beat by acouple days!

I have 15 people so far wanting boy pups, the boys are much in demand right now, only a few people want girls
These pups are full siblings to Dana Von Ryans & Tessie Von Ryan

Raw chicken is the best thing for her, it helps bring in the milk supply.

Also, keep her water filled, they get real thirsty!

Kelly, if she did not deliver all of her placentas or some tissue, she could have an infection. I've had this happen in two bitches. Check with your vet, but mine had me give (first bitch) Pen-G injection (1/2 cc  once daily for a 60 pound bitch) and (second bitch) Cephalexin (500mg every 12 hours for a 68 pound bitch) for 7 days. After 24 hours on the antibiotics, both dogs were eating normally again. Again, check with your vet, but it sounds like that may be the problem.  Your pups are lovely. Good job you both did!

Mom's temperature is fine and she did pass all of the placenta's. I did not even think of chicken noodle soup. She did actually eat some of her food last night and this morning. I'm just wondering b/c she still has a little bit of weight to her if she's just plain not hungry?? I will try the chicken noodle soup and I think I will try some chicken/beef broth as well. Pups are getting really big already. I had to change 6 of their yarn collars on them yesterday, and they are 3 day's old today :-)  I have 4 black sable male's available, but I'm looking at maybe keeping 1 so that will make 3 left.

Kalibeck

Kali would only take chicken broth & vanilla ice cream for the first couple of days, (I know, spoiled!) but I figured we were covering a few important nutritional bases with those, & eggs actually mix well with ice cream, & she seemed to like the coolness of it. And, of course, lots of water. I don't think it's too unusual for them to be off their regular feed for a couple of days, but of course call the vet if this persists.  She's done a great job, she's allowed to be spoiled for a few days! jh

Trust me she is being spoiled. Yeah I forgot to mention her with vanilla ice cream, she loves it!!! She has no problem sucking down the water either :-)  It's been sooo long since I've had pups here I can't remember how my other girl was after having a litter. I'll try to get some updated picture's of them too.  Thanks for all the advice everyone :-)
Kel
