Seems like there were many tracking scores that were lower then expected for a regional event - were the conditions bad?

jOHN d,
Unless I am mistaken, Jim Stiles has posted on this site regarding placing his dogs. ListenNOw has only posted on this ill-advised topic here and on the Masters Tournement, so I think that someone other than Jim Stiles started this thread and treated Alex J so shabbily.
I could be wrong--Lord knows enough people on here have used multiple aliases ...

Ok, I understand that Sean can’t be the champion because he has a Malinois. But why can’t Dana with Nando vom Schloss Zweibrueggen it looks like he had more points than the champion?

Being a champion has nothing to do with the breed.... Only a competitor residing in the New England Region can win the title of the New England Regional Champion. Dana is from a different region so she was not eligible for that award.

Sean and Dana are from the North eastern Region, not New England. So they were able to place and take home the HIT and etc point trophies, but the Champion trophy went to the highest competitor from the region. I think that is a good policy to have IMO.

Oh my goodness.... what sour grapes! The tracking conditions at the NE reginals were superb. The dogs either tracked or they didn't. I have seen Alex do helper work on many occasions and he has caught my dogs in the past and I'd be honored to have him catch them again. He's a fine helper, and we as a sport group need to be encouraging these "kids" to step up, or we'll be finding ourselves without helpers in the future. GOOD JOB ALEX!! Not only is he a fine helper he's a wonderful ambassador for our sport!

Here in New England we have a Regional Champion Cup that is similar to the Stanley cup in Hockey. It is a cup with 4 tears on it now, when you win there is a plate with your name, the dogs name, the year and your score put on the cup, when that tear is full we add another tear. The cup is over 20 years old now and the regional bylaws do not allow it to leave the region. To be New England Regional champion you MUST reside in the region. The cup is kept for the year and then returned with a bottle of Champayne in the top for the next winner and the region then gives the past Champion a replacement trophy cup to keep forever. It is a very cool tradition here in the New England region....
