I can give a little insight why Deb Zappia was defended.
The German "Der Gebrauchshund" came over to interview Deb Zappia as the world champion. Juergen took pictures of Deb Zappia and chose to put a picture of Eros wearing an E Collar onto the Cover of the Magazin. I was there during the interview and I was there when he took the pictures.
I am the one that actually translated the interview into German for the Magazine. There was an entire part about E Collars in that Interview. Deb is a fantastic teacher and she went into a lot of depth. Juergen liked that so much that he sent a copy to the President of the SV.
Juergen chose the foto to spark an E Collar discussion because he supports the Ecollar.
It is not at all pathetic that the USCA defended Deb Zappia. It is very important the USCA stands by her because the SV is basically shaming her with all of this and if there is one person that doesn't deserve any of this, it's Deb.

This interview and that cover photo sparked the whole thing.

Jogi Zank makes a living out of seminars, using e-collars openly, till recently.
He KNEW what he did when he took the picture, in my mind he did it intentionally -
did Debbie know about the consequences, too?
Who is "they", Baerenfang? SV tried to avoid any discussion about e-collars when they became forbidden by law -
no judge, no damnation - simple logic.
All of this was started by Jantie, with the help of PETA.
When these people ( and friends ) started to take pictures of trainers using e-collars SV finally had to react because of Federal Law, not because of conviction.
That´s a major difference...

That's what I said. He used that picture intentionally to spark a conversation.
And I also said its a "Do not ask - Do not tell" culture.

I know that here in the US, UScA is rallying against it but GSDCA is in full support of the ban...
When the letter first came out i was really surprised, I know the SV approaches the situation with a "dont ask dont tell" mentality in Germanay and i fully believe the SV itself thinks its a ridiculous law formed out of knee jerk reactions. But i think they are getting some internal pressure for the German Gov't/Green Party to "assert" pressure on "out of germany" members. I really think that the SV/WUSV are shocked that the US, Canada and a few other member countries are saying "Hell No!!! Who do you think you are to tell us to tell on one another or to impose your laws on us?!?!?!" I really dont think that the SV/WUSV is going to push this more and are just trying to appease internal pressure

E-collars & pinch collars were initially used by working lines -Malinois dog trainers to control and be able to train these high energy dogs;sometimes 2 receivers used in e-collars. For A normal, good temperament dog, these are not needed. Do they make life easier for trainers? Yes..are they needed? No
Many times I get complain from owners that dogs get more aggressive and bond less with the family.
The only people that will complain about these are Working lines - Malinois people, cause it will be difficult , if not almost impossible, to train / control their dogs.
