I'm sorry folks, I just though the question from the OP was ascertaining if the parents were titled.....from there I thought I saw everyone's assumptions and opinions on the breeders dogs and practices. Carry on....this is PDB!
Thank you everyone.... yes, my big concern was that if he was going to be "bold" enough to post lies about his dogs' titles, what else was I misinformed about... I have ben through loosing my first GSD to dysplasia at a very young age and hate the thought of going through that again, so it reall concerned me that this puppy might not even be from a line of dogs that at least most of them had been OFA. She is sweet, smart, and loving. She is "hard headed", as in if I try to block her out of an area, she will keep trying to find a way to get over, under o around it until she succeeds... but I suppose thats good.... she's a determined little girl!! I have been working on some basic commands, she does well with "sit"!! The puppies on his website are price at $1500.00, so while they are not as much as many puppies, they are more than if you just find a breeder in your local paper that knows nothing about the health of what they are breeding!!! Also, I think she is black and tan or black and red... although she has the sable look on her face, it does seem to be either hair that is coming in or falling out... she has a solid black body and tan/red legs. Her undercoat is brown, though.... so since I am so new, she could be sable that just hasnt lost her black puppy fur!! I did email him last night and told him my plans of having her DNA checked and asked him that if she wasnt out of the dogs on his website to please just tell me. I told him if he did not tell me and I went thru the time and expense of checking it and it turned out that she is NOT out of those dogs I would have my attorney do whatever he could do, which would include fraud. He responded and said yes, they are those dogs' puppies', he also said he has sold to at least 15 other people, shipped his pups to the west coast, etc... and I was the only one he had ever had a problem with.... so obviously no one else has ever "called him" on his lies and misrepresentations. Again, thank you all so much, you cant imagine how helpful this conversation has been!!
Gustav, somewhere in this post I told about the "condition" of the puppy when she I got her, so that is what some people were commenting on, it was pretty early in the post.... it was not good, tho.... From the man's website, I believe he knows how dogs and puppies should be raised and treated, but from what I saw with my puppy, I believe what he actually does is a hundred percent opposit of what his website says.
Do you want to use your dog for breeding?
Just thinking that the DNA and titles would be something I'd want to know about, but if I couldn't verify either and didn't care about breeding, it wouldn't be quite as important. If I wanted to breed her, then those questions would need to be answered.
Blitzen IF she passes OFA do you think the lines she if from are good enough lines to breed her in a few years? I do not plan on doing Schutzhund, I want to do therapy with her.
Dear, I don't know much about German pedigrees. There are others here who could give you better advice about that. I'm glad you're going to xray her hips, do her elbows too and when that's done start a conversation about other health checks that might be right for her. Training her to be a therapy dog is a really great idea too. I never liked breeding dogs much. It's hard to find good owners for the puppies and I often ended up taking some of them back. You need to think about that too, would you be able to do that.
For now, enjoy her and find a nice basic obedience class so you two can learn together. There are so many fun things you can do with her. A basic OB class could be just the beginning of a new adventure for both of you and you will meet other people with dogs and make a lot of new friends.
So now we are talking of breeding in a few years.......You aren't even sure who your dog is out of.....you have questioned if these are even the dogs that your pups comes from - you have questioned everything about your puppy.............. now it comes to it...........breeding...........if you had asperations on breeding - you should have done your home work. you cant even google german shepherd puppies in the area - to locate him............how did you find him.....lots of breeders come up - but not his website...
By the way - checked around on this breeder - and it seems he comes from a different state and he has titled dogs...........these two - not so sure - but if the breeding comment comes up - as it always does - it is always to do homework on the lines - etc - seems you want to know now since you are thinking about breeding.
