How'd I screw it up? I can't control where posts end up on a page. Anyway, you're welcome, I guess.

As usual , I don't know what you're talking about, but thanks for correcting the 'screw up'.

Actually I didn't think she had any legal reason, Joanro, it was a challenge to prove what she was saying - show up or shut up.
.I agree, the internet isn't always the best place to get to know others. I'm not a morning person, should have enough sense to not log on the net til noon time or later since these snide remarks that flow so freely here have negative effects on my attitude for the rest of the day![Sick Sick](/s/52_52.gif)

For the love of God, can someone tell me if the HSUS will be coming after my goat herding canine?? If need be, I can hide him out. I best get rid of all these damn goats. I will have to get my goat cheese from the Italian Market.
Next, you will be telling me, I have to get rid of all my fighting cocks?

I've been waiting for you to show up, Abhay....LOL
I am all for freedom to do as we please with our working dogs. But there is a definite line between proving/testing/working dogs on stock and outright animal cruelty and torture for "sport".

I just watched "American Hoggers" for the first time. Lordy, it takes all kinds, doesn't it? LOL I don't know ... but it wouldn't surprise me after getting a look at "Biggin" from the Louisianna turtle farm episode, that Beau's daddy could be a hog dog! Did you see those eyes? (No feral hogs where I live, just those darn groundhogs!)

I bought a bulldog pup in the '70's from a farmer who used them to catch cattle and hogs that pretty much couldn't be rounded up any other way. These were the mostly white bulldogs, higher on leg than what is seen now and the head was closer to a pit than an English bulldog.
My pup turned out to be deaf, which I think was an issue at the time, but otherwise, an excellent dog.

Using dogs for catching wild hogs is legitimate and like catching and rounding up wild cattle in the deep, inaccessible woods of Fl is the only way to get them out.
Pitting dogs against a hog which is penned (often times with tusks sawed off to reduced danger to the dogs) and has no escape, for the "sport" of "good watching" is a different matter.
When I lived in Fl, when dogs were trained to hunt wild hogs, the hogs would be in an enclosure, safe from the dog. The dog would be tested on it's desire and drive for "catching", then taken to the woods with experienced dogs. The hogs were caught and held by the dog , and were pulled off as the hog was held down by the guys. If it was a very young boar, it would be castrated and released, to grow up to butcher size. If it was a small female, they would hog tie it, carry it alive and uninjured back home, where it would be penned, wormed and fed for a couple weeks, and then butchered for food.
Hog/rodeos where the hog is at a distinct disadvantage is cruel and nothing but blood "sport", no different then pit fighting dogs.
