Alright, new news.  Animal control returned my call this morning. However, they won't set the trap until.....the following Monday. Wasn't thrilled about that part, but hey it's progress. They won't do it until then because we're suppose to have storms most every day this week. A friend of mine who is a cop made sure that was true after I told him about it.....and apparently it is, they won't set traps if it's suppose to rain or storm.  So let's hope it won't early next week. April typically is storm season here and fairly often.

a neighbor had a chow that would guard my mail box. i was a prisoner in my own yard. we put up fences, it worked for a while, but the dog dug under it one night and tagged me! even though its been 20 years, i still have a scar on my leg where he bit my through a boot. i had to be armed to get the mail every day, i kept golf club at each door, my children were terrorized! a neighbor down the street finally shot the dog, but only after it bit him and also his child.

glad you're getting some help with animal control. lets hope he's stupid enough to get into the trap and that someone doesn't let him out once he's caught.

hoping there's resolution quickly.

Recently we've had new neighbors move in next door, with their German Shepherd. I guess last week some time, the dog jumped their fence and attacked the dogs across the street. When the owner of those dogs tried to break it up, she also got bit and had to get stitches, so they called Animal Control and the Shepherd is now listed as a dangerous dog... has to be tethered at all times, *I believe* is supposed to wear a muzzle but doesn't, etc. So today, I was getting home with my dog, and I saw the two neighbor kids (12-ish) had the dog outside on a flexi. So I waited until they had walked past my house, before I got out and grabbed Qira. Well, didn't wait long enough, because the girl saw Qira and came over to ask what her name was and pet her and such. Well low and behold, here comes the boy with the dog. I pulled Qira back, but then I saw that the neighbor dog's leash was locked on the longest setting. Crap! So of course a little spat broke out before the stupid kids could figure the leash out and pull their dog back (because no matter how many times I managed to yank Qira back, "Lexi" just kept coming - she may as well have been off leash, with the leash locked the way it was). No damage was done though, other than having to wipe some slobber off of Qira (and she just came back from her bath too, dang it!), so I'm thankful for that, but I do feel sorry for the neighbor dog and her ignorant owners.

I mean really... an aggressive dog locked on the longest possible length of a flexi??? I don't see things ending well there.

That is too bad. That's why I said poor shepherd in my post cause it will either be on a tieout or everytime it barks stuck in the house. Since they have lived here, they have had about 8 dogs--other than the jack, everyone has been stolen or got run over. Poor poor dogs.............they always pay the price for stupidity.

GSD Guy good for you for getting some action. I hope after the storms you catch him and he gets home where someone cares about him.

New news again. They're actually coming out early afternoon here to set it up. It's bright and sunny here this morning and he said he would be out sometime early in the afternoon.  So hopefully the "attacker" will be caught soon.  I'll just make sure to leave some food that would smell strong and good to a dog in there.

Trap is up, I will try to take pictures in the morning though.  However a frustrating thing happened while the guy was out there.  A neighbor of mine (slightly down the road a couple of hundred feet/on the other side of the street) was driving by at that exact moment.  He goes down to his own driveway, backs up, turns around and comes back.  He stops and mentions where the dogs were coming from (trailer park); I first asked him "do you think they're coming from there" (I wasn't sure, so I just wanted to make sure), but he got very snarky in tone towards me.  On top of that he said "those dogs wouldn't be coming up here if you didn't throw food in the field"...... To which the animal control officer replied "those dogs shouldn't be running loose in the first place". We do throw our scraps in the field , it's family owned, and my grand parents do not care if I throw scraps out in the field, we've done it for years. They too were in agreement with the trap being set.  Well, after the neighbor said that about the field, I mentioned I can throw food in our own families field; I also mentioned that the dogs were attacking my dogs through the fence.......to which the neighbor got angry about, rolled up his window; drove down just a bit and turned around in someone's driveway to go back to his house; Driving by he turned his thumb down (He's flipped me off in the past, but with the officer there I doubt he'd do that.....) and went back to his house.  Anyway, my worry is that if the dog is caught....this neighbor might set the dog free before I get to it; Or he might steal the trap. Thoughts on that you guys? I just do not trust him at all.  He can't blame the food part on why the dogs are going out, because I have talked to a number of people, on different roads connected to our road that have seen the dogs running loose;  They go absolutely everywhere.

Okay, Guy. Throwing food in your field will attract vermin. He might be reacting to that. Even if your family has been doing it for centuries.

I doubt this guy will sit up all night waiting to spring your trap. You could set a trap for the guy if you are really worried.  If you have one of those hunter's night vision, trail camera's, or could borrow one, it would be so easy to play spy. I don't know if you are a night owl, but you could stay up all night, watching, too.

I'd just wait and see what happens in the morning. The worst thing is, you'd have to reset an emptied trap. Good luck solving the problem.

Nothing happened overnight (I didn't expect it to), but usually the dogs come here in about 20 -50 minutes from now give or take. It's always at 8 something in the morning, or afternoon (around 5ish)
