Someone should start a new topic, on just about anything else. Tongue Smile

What cracks me up about Moon's whole POV, is his distrust,  and the fact it was a human somebod(ies) who wrote both the Bible and the US Constitution, yet the argument for disregarding one, is never used for the other.

by joanro on 01 March 2013 - 14:03

Bee, the constitution is law and the bible has mythological qualities. The constitution is an outline for governing a country.
Laws that citizens have to abide by were also written by people and one must abide by those laws or suffer the consequences. The bible is not law and can be followed or not. No one in this country (the US) is going to jail for not believing in the bible. But you already know that.

by beetree on 01 March 2013 - 15:03

Oh, the Bible is law, to more than a few! The principle for disregarding one but not the the other is... just not fair. Both have the same room for error if one discounts a "mythical" inspiration.

by joanro on 01 March 2013 - 15:03

Bee, it may be law to more than a few, but like I said, in the US, you don't go to jail for not believing in the bible. On the other hand, in the US, if you don't believe in the law (such as drinking and driving) you go to jail. In this country (US), no one is forced to believe in the bible, it's a choice. Laws are not a choice to believe in or not. That is the difference.

Red Sable,
I was calling gouda a fraud, not what he was saying.

This is the man who would make war and kill all the enemies of his god, all who disagreed with his god.
It's from his own hand and is in the log somewhere.
He twists the words to his own ends.

Bee,
there are varying degree's of trust, one must be worthy.
I find most people lacking and would not trust them with much.

If you can't see the difference between a bible and the US Constitution then hey! I don't trust you.

The thread says OBAMA???
he's not religious, he's the biggest tool we've seen in the white house I believe ever.

LOL@Moons

This is a discussion. I thought we already determined the complete lack of trust we have for each other?

I certainly see the differences, but it is the similarities you are ignoring.

Bee, what's your point about similarities? One is a MUST obey, the other is a CHIOCE to obey or not. One has legal repercussions, the other does not. (in the US)

Bee,
there are no similarities.

Gouda,
our Zen master GSDmod. could surely pull up the log files I speak of, he's a real gem at such things.
I'm not gonna take the time.
Get angry all you like.

You call me names, and I call you names, that's how this works.

I do burn one from time to time, but I never lie.
You should try it sometime, you might see the light, weed's good for things like that, something a lot of people don't know about the herb.

Anyway last night I was having a fine single malt served neat at room temperature.

Moons, both the Bible and the US Constituton were written by men? That would be one similarity.

You discount wisdom from the Bible because it was written by man, interpreted by man. You exalt the US Constitution because it was written by man, and interpreted by man.
