This is the breeder I got my girl from almost two years ago. http://mmqualityshepherds.com/ Two years later and she is still answering my questions - today actually I emailed her and got a long reply within an hour or two. She has working lines, I've been to her place and her dogs are beautiful. She really has a relationship with each one. Her price is awesome as well, health garruntees, Hips checked, she is 100% behind her dogs. You should check her site out. She normally breeds blacks & sables but is about to have a traditional coated litter (possibly with blacks). Give her a call, and tell her Paige sent you! :) (The other breeders, her friends she suggests I know nothing about, but I personally was not impressed - stick with Michele)

Can be better to turn up at any breeder's premises in the ol' pick-up truck, not the shiny new saloon, in case the prices are as flexible as some people's seem to be. LOL

I have selected the breeder and pup. She is female, and I get her in 2 weeks, and couldn't be more excited!!!! It will be very hard to wait, as it's hard to contain my excitement :) thanks to everyone on here, I was able to make a smarter choice, and pay a fair price for a great pup. Both parents tested for DM and Elbows , and very healthy. I am very grateful to those who shared their knowledge, which really helped me. You will be hearing more for me, I am certain, once I get my pup. I'm excited and nervous all in one - I just want to everything right :). Thanks again folks!!

Congrats Ladyluck!!! There's a wealth of knowledge on here (though not from me! LOL), I'm glad the fine folks here could help you make an informed decision (and that you listened!). I'm sure your pup will be marvellous, I hope you enjoy many happy, healthy years together.

I'm getting a pup in a month, I can't wait! I am also getting a female, I'm so excited! I love my girls!

Please post lots of pictures, it will help me get my puppy fix until my little one comes home. LOL

I suggest you get DVD's that focus on operant conditioning (marker, clicker) whatch them and prepare for a crazy puppy to invade your home....There are quite a few available.

Also, do a check for all agility, rally and other clubs where clicker, or marker training is offered. Go and visit each, watch some puppy classes and decide where you plan to go for training.

Interview personal trainers, decide which does best with dogs and puppies, and make sure you keep his/her contact. With a new puppy, there will be many things you can do to give your puppy a headstart. GSD's puppies bite and cause havoc......You may need some help redirecting these behaviors.... Using a strong hand doesn't create good teamwork. Having guidance to learn the tools to mold behaviors into skills is so very important for your sanity and your puppies development.

GSD's are very smart and if you don't keep their minds and bodies stimulated they can be areal handfull.

Most of all - enjoy the excitement of your pending puppy arrival. This is such a special time for you.

Thank you Situsmom - all good info and advice, which I need :). I'm going to search out some DVD's after work, since I have a nice long weekend coming up to watch them. There is a Shutzhund club here in Anchorage that I think does all that - and I will give them a call to go check it out and sit in on some puppy sessions. :)

When you visit the SchH club in Anchorage, say hi to Milicia and and give Ruff z Eurosportu a great big hug for me!
