Did Blitzen clear it up for you, Jenni? Seems she believes I am confused how her use of the word "nuisance" was to be taken in its medical meaning, only.

I would like to hear what a kennel cough description sounds like to more people, especially another pet person who has experienced it, and would they  describe it as "occassional"? That also was not my experience.

No, I didn't know what you meant by having different thresholds about what was a nuisance. I also didn't understand saying it's not about immunity. I was totally lost.

Perhaps I have never had a serious case of kc. Some dogs get sicker than others, for lots of reasons. The rescues I've gotten were already on the mend when I received them, and the worst my own dogs have ever had, as I said, was an occasional (meaning, from 2 to maybe 6 coughs per day) cough that sounded like an attempt to clear a throat, or a hacking sound. Caught my attention the first time I heard it out of Simon, as I thought he was choking, but then remembered the rescue had it and didn't worry about it after that. Within a week, the cough decreased even more and it was quickly forgotten.

Well, Jenni, I will have to explain! I know you are a mom, too, and perhaps you have also become immune to particulars in the noisiness of children? Until, like me, it gets to the "blood-curdling" stage? That's the immunity meaning I alluded too, and was sure you would pick up on. My mistake!

Jenni, do what you feel is right.

LOL. No, beetree, I didn't get that "immunity" connotation at all. Makes a lot more sense now!

I have to Blitzen. It's all I know how to do! I wish there were "official" answers instead of just my damn gut intstincts. He went in for a full senior blood panel this morning. Fingers crossed. That panel is quite extensive.
