Steve1: He could use to lose a few pounds, that's for sure! LOL Anyway, it is not sweater weather anymore so I think I'll just forget about them and be genuinely surprised when I can't remember anything about any missing sweaters, come the first snow....! I'll keep my eye out for sales in the meantime and slip the replacements into the back of the closet, he'll never notice!
He's worn the same type of clothes for decades, almost like a uniform, so I'm feeling pretty confident he'll remain clueless, LOL

He is much like me then i really get the best out of my clothes. I have a couple of Shirts i bought around 20 years ago, and on the rare occasion i wear a shirt i use these they still fit,
Mostly i like old worn out over large T Shirts a right scruff bag at times i am told, I remember one Summer when our Sister came over and we were going to the City i had on one of the over sized T shirts and a pair of old Track suit bottoms she would not go unless i changed . Best was she bought me a New T Shirt and a Track suit bottoms, but she wanted the correct size not a size to big for me that i usually wear, I do not like tight clothes at all.
I did feel guilty but a big smile as well
