Yes, and that is how Bear broke my teeth..  He jumps so high he  is like a flying airplane and when a Kong is involved there is no stopping him and he reacts faster than  I can move and when I bent down to pick it up he was airborne and hit me with his bison head... I thought I had been shot in the head..

Lesson learned.

Never let a kong get up in a tree and stay clear until Bear jumps up and gets it..It fell out of the tree as he launched to get it and I bent to grab it and that was a mistake.

He always jumped up to the tree branch to get it as it hung up because it is a water kong.

3,500.00 lesson learned. I had to have an oral surgeon .  And my oral surgeon , come to find out, had a german shepherd he bought from the same breeder Bear came from. He kept me occupied as he talked about his dog while he cut my teeth out.  Besides that he is one good looking Dentist and I left a hand imprinted on his leg..He just thought he had deadened me enough.!!!!!!   lol

 LOL, YR!

My mom does not usually find my injuries amusing. Neither do the stick-in-the-mud doctors if God forbid, it's ever bad enough to see one of them. I am more careful than I used to be though, since now I have a baby that would be out of luck if something too bad happened to me while outside.

There is still and always will be a level of danger associated w/playing w/these kinds of dogs, but that's half of what makes it fun.

i HAVE HAD HOLES IN MY STOMACH , AND MEGA  rips of fingers, hands, legs and arms...but do not ever tell a DR. that a gsd did it..  And I have lost more fingernails than   Carter has liver pills.     lol

I actually have never ever gone to an emerg. room or a Dr.   Bag Balm does just fine..after washing with hot soap and water...
Besides I have every antibiotic there is in my cabinet.  Why unless the dog took off my arm would I go to the Dr. Also all you have to do is glue the flesh back in place with Liquid Bandaid...

Once Pepsii at  4 mos. old   scrapped my sons eye and it swelled up..We went to the emergency room and he told the DR> that a gsd PUP   did it...Waiting outside by my pickup   that had three big signs on sides and tailgate..CAUTION  K9  ....  was a Sheriff Dept officer...I laughed and he ask to see the pup...I said  well, you are gonna have to travel to Galveston to see it...sorry...  IT IS A  4 MO> OLD PUP>>>NO need to see anything...he is not a rabid dog,,he is a playing pup.    You are overstepping your authority . He said OK...have a nice day. My blood boils the minute I hear a Rabies Control Officer say...I have to take the dog that scratched your sons eye in and I must see his rabies tags...  A  4 mo old pup will have no rabies tag at my house..I do not give them until they are way older...

Jen says

She is possibly the highest drive German Shepherd I have ever met. I have met a couple Mals and Dutchies that were on par w/her, but not GSDs."

It sounds like you are talking about my Ceira! LOL!  Bitten fingers were a regular part of training as were busted lips and nose bumps.

You gotta love a dog that is sooooo enthusiastic to work!(to say the least)  She sounds like my kinda girl!

Well, Lyn, if you remember, you had your chance...but you were on your way to the dark side. LOL!

How is she, anyway? :-)

YR- how the hell do you fix it yourself one handed when your "good" hand (right) is bitten all the way through? That's a trick I haven't learned.

I actually had to go to a specialist a few weeks later b/c all the tendons from the last 2 fingers were bunched up in a ball on top of my middle finger. To this day, I can't open and close those fingers smoothly; they "snap" open and closed. It's a great way to creep people out. LOL!!!  Of course when asked who did it I replied "my Pekingese."

NICE girl, Jenni! Congrats!

Yeah Jen I remember and don't think I didn't kick myself a few times after we talked.  If I didn't have a husband you would have been putting her on a plane and I would be starting two dogs right now instead of one!!!!And loving every minute of it.

Maybe if I told my husband she was a rescue and was in desparate need of a home. I could train her title her and you could still use her for breeding ....  Oh well.

I think one of the reasons I have been so sentimental about Ceira is starting this new puppy.  It brings back all of the memories of Ceira being and pup and starting her and what a hellion she was and how much I loved training her.  This is the first pup I have had since Ceira and that was 8 years ago.

I have to say True is definately a handful, but not the way Ceira was. True's training is coming along very well. She is a very bright quick learner, but she is not a GSD that 's for sure so it is different.

I get the same way about puppies, Lyn. Whenever I start a new one, I inevitably end up looking at Caleb and Xander's puppy pictures and getting all weepy, as if they're dead or something! LOL  I also know what you mean about different breeds; my Pit Bulls are a handful, but in a different way than the GSDs. I bet a BC is similar in activity level, but like a Pit, nowhere near as hard about corrections...or am I totally wrong?

YR- maybe someday I will learn to cook dinner w/both hands bandaged. It'll be sometime after I learn to cook dinner. HA!

Thanks, KCzaja.
