KC Press Release on colours:

*KENNEL CLUB PEDIGREE DOG REGISTRATIONS* *RECORDING OF COLOURS *

The Kennel Club’s online registration service is growing ever more popular
and the Kennel Club’s IT department is keen to ensure that the system is as
user-friendly as possible.
The subject of colour is always a sensitive issue and the Kennel Club’s
principal aim in recording coat colour on registrations is that breeders and
potential purchasers should be fully informed about the colour of a dog.

The list of available colours for each breed has been reviewed with this in
mind, and also taking into account any specific issues raised by Breed Clubs
and Breed Councils in the past. Therefore, where a colour does exist in a
breed, even if the Breed Standard states that it may be undesirable, this
will usually be included in the list of colour options.

The new IT system for the recording of coat colours on registrations became
effective for online breed registrations and for paper applications with
effect from 11th January 2010.

Until recently, it had been the norm to use the term ‘non-standard’ for some
breed colours which are not mentioned in Breed Standards. This terminology
has been changed to ‘non-recognised colour’ but is only available for those
breeds where colour restrictions had previously been agreed.

If Breed Clubs and Councils have concerns about the list of available
colours given for their breed, they should contact Caroline Hallett at the
Kennel Club via
*caroline.hallett@...*<caroline.hallett@...>,
bearing in mind the above limitations.

Colours ACCEPTED by the UK KC? Why miss out LIVER?  Think they missed quite a few they ACCEPT. Now wouldn't they have saved themselves a whole load of time by just stating......
Colours accepted by the kennel club...... ANY!! So where is the UK KC's list of non recognised colours?

Bazza, come on, now stop being so naive, the KC wont have a list of non recognised colours, they accept anything that carries a price tag and is accompanied by a cheque!  I thought you knew that already !!!

All the best
Sue

PS - Apo Armani,  thanks (I think !?) though hope I didnt score a home goal !!?

Sue b, of course I know it, but Dopey's post above states that this is the new terminology for
NON STANDARD COLOURS, and took the time to post the colours accepted by the KC, so was hopeing we might be provided with a list of  new changed " NON RECOGNISED COLOURS" Confused??? Welcome to the UK KC, lol.

I can't believe its not obvious to you - ANY other colour than those listed is a 'Non Recognised Colour'.  Therefore if you tried to register a dog as sky blue pink with yellow spots it would come back as 'Non Recognised Colour' on the registration certificate.

I take it you mean LIVER, CHOCOLATE, CHAMPAGNE, CREAM, CHIFFON, ALBINO, OR ANY OTHER PRETTY NAMES FOR COLOURS? Didn't know they came in sky blue pink with yellow spots, but hey never say never, I'm sure the KC will have no trouble registering that too. One likes to have things clarified as our KC can change things at the drop of a hat. That aside I take it the KC will still, accept the registrations and fees from breeders of these NON RECOGNIZED coloured pups, and Allow them to pay a fee and join the prestigious, lol, ACCREDITED BREEDERS SCHEME. Sorry if I find that a complete and utter joke, why change the colour list, when everyone knows it goes for sweet Fanny Adams, the KC'S motto should be ANYTHING GOES, IF IT BREATHS WE'LL REGISTER IT, AS LONG AS YOU PAY THE FEES!!! lmfao.

I wouldn't presume to second guess what the KC's intentions are, but I expect they are thinking along the lines of if the breeders cannot use the weird and wonderful colours they choose they will have to use the accepted ones, or else the puppy buyers would be questioning why their puppy is registered as being of 'non recognised colour'.
