RS,
An experienced decoy can work their own dog in prey.  Many will start their own dogs on rags, then tugs and get a good solid foundation in the bitework.  It is possible to work your own dog in prey and prepare the dog for a SchH trial' again if you know what you are doing.  To have a truly impressive dog you will need to switch to a decoy and make the training more balanced between prey and defense.  Doing what Vikram did is completely wrong.  For one thing he is very inexperienced or has no experience besides what he reads on the internet.  He agitated a dog without equipment which is putting the dog into defense, that is really a bad idea.  It is quite possible that he has already screwed his dog up.  There will be so much handler conflict that if he ever decided to actually train this dog it would be a mess.  If he was to find a club with enough patience that would let him join and train it would take a long time to fix the problems he has already inadvertantly created.

JMO FWIW,

Jim

I think Vikram should team up with Vixen.
Vikram you didn't answer any of my questions, fair enough.
Some things can't be fixed, what would that be?

Some handlers will spend up to a year on working and creating a strong bond, and trust between the dog and yourself, why would you go and ruin it by agitating your own dog? I know experience trainers that do it, and even they are very open minded and say that it's just contra productive at times. You push your dog in a defense and your done, I don't care how experience you are the relationship will never be the same. Your dog pushes you into a corner the same Vikram did to his, and once again you are done, the dog will never respect you again, now he will look for a chance to challenge you. Vikram any way you want to look at it you and your dogs are done, and you did more damaged than good. Give the dog to someone that can handle him, and re instate a structure. Because you are done.
