It is hard enough to get a good dog out of 2 working line dogs, why make it more difficult?  If you want a working dog, bye one from a breeder who still holds confirmation as a neccessity and vice versa.

Instead of arguing about show vs working shouldn't we be breeding the best that we can to preserve working ability and correct conformation.  I think that if more breeders would work the dogs that they produce they would be much more selective about what they breed.

OK Jim,... you got me. I am getting old. But there are still some great working show dogs out there
I would mention particularly line Hartis Bohemia, Czech line of my friends Ota  and Helena Meloun. I have imported many solid dogs from these lines. Here  I have randomly have found some videos of Nexx Hartis Bohemia.

I had a friend who was a nugget hunter. I tried too find nuggets too . But without success. Once I asked him: "Bill how do you found the nuggets?" He puffed from is permanent cigarette, smiled and gave me a wisdom which is applicable even to dogs: " Hans" , he said, "they are always where you find them."  So do not limit your self by common beliefs or fads.

JMO  If those in show lines wish to strengthen the lines and incorperate some working in, or alter their priorities to allow more serious show lines in, that is great.  I am a purist however and would never think of bringing show lines into working lines.  I can only see this deluting  what is good.  To allow for some good working dogs to come in that also have good conformation into your breeding program is ok as long as working is first objective.  There are some nice looking working lines, maybe not up to show lines according to show lines expectations, but I guess beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.
Personally, I find nothing nicer to look at then a nice strong working dog.  But then to me my table saw is a thing of beauty.

Holy Shit! That Nexx is a banger! Hans is he typical for his litter or a fluke?

Nice dog! Hans, this is the type of dog breeders should be striving to breed for. This dog really puts most showlines to shame.

The showline in the video looks to be a very nice dog and yes, the showlines need to be more like this young dog but the key question is when he is ready will he be able to produce the same quality as him???????? and yes it also will depend on the female he is bred too and as far as I am concerned that is like finding a needle in the haystack. I would like to know how this dog is doing now since this video is old.

Nexx Hartis Bohemia is a nugget!

He and dogs like him are fine examples of the goal I will strive for.  A beautiful working dog.

Wish there were more kennels breeding for the "whole dog".

My hats off to this breeder!

I would love to see tracking and obedience videos too....... .
