Geesh, enough already with the bitching.
  1. This is Oli's site, not ours.
  2. It's not a publicly traded corporation where you can buy stock and compalin at the annual stockholders meetings.
  3. It's not located within the U.S.A. so our First Amendment Freedom of Speech is a mute point.
  4. If you have a complaint about a breeder, post it at rip off report  http://www.ripoffreport.com/
  5. I'm all for the periodic OT thread, and RONNIE adds some nice humor and lightness.  In the big picture this is Pedigree Database, GSD section and is about GSD's (or peridoic other working breed as comparison).  OT threads are taking over and it's getting old.
  6. GSD topics can include many different venues, including LEO K9's.
  7. Politics are best left at the door.  Our club has a no political discusions while at the training field rule, it works well.

I don't always like having posts and threads disappear either, but then I think of what I wrote above.

I do give a big Thank You Oli for being willing to do so much and provide a great place for us to post and share information.  Now if we could only get back to the GSD.......

I thank Oli too. Yes, this is a GSD site, and we all love the GSD, however, there is more to us than just our dogs, and IMO, talking GSD's only gets old very fast also.  After all, if you only want to discuss GSD's you have that option by not clicking on anything else.

What makes this board so busy and popular was the fact that we were allowed to talk of other things.  You may not agree with what is being said, and it may offend your sensibilities, BUT it made it interesting here didn't it.?

If this board is too heavily moderated, and everyone has to play nice ALL the time, how boring will that get?

How does that song go, people love dirty laundry.  JMO.

Nice speech,
And your absolutely right animules.
GSDs are being discussed, good posts have been deleted, on topic and off.
You can do what you want.....
I'm not bitching,  I'm trying to find out if someones just yanking our chains.
Actualy I'm about to just drop the whole thing.
But thats up to me.

The threat of lawsuits is baloney.

What is offensive here, really offensive is the anti-semitic posts, the pornography that has been posted in the past, the trailer trash like bickering between some. But what is MOST offensive is that apparently people who are among the worst offenders in terms of lack of ethics seem to be appointed moderators. This includes both individuals who live in the US and one who continues to tell us today to read the TOS and who lives in England. I don't know that person, but I do know that over the years there have been MANY posts relating complaints about his alleged unethical behavior and I have seen some of his posts that appear to be written when he was impaired. Is what was posted true? I don't know, and frankly, because it is not the US, or Germany, I could care less.  That is my opinion.

Could comments about this English man or certain American breeders be simply jealousy? I suppose so, but when someone claims their pup has HD, had serious tooth issues, and the breeder refuses to address the situation, I think people ought to know about it. I cannot tell you how many people have said to me, "but I did not know about this breeder. How was I to find out?"  When their buddy moderators are busy deleting posts, no, one cannot blame the buyer for complaining about a lack of ethics in the entire GSD scene. The breeders, especially if there has EVER been more than a few complaints posted here about them,  should NOT be moderating a bathroom, let alone a forum like this.

The value of moderation is that it is done without regard for what it can get the moderator. If moderators act as they have done in the past, several from the southwestern US, it is really worthless to post anything here any more. Like the green board, this site will simply be a site for a small group of people who like to stroke each other in all the right places.

The real value in a site like this is that people reading posts see for themselves what is posted. I can read. And I can read between the lines. I know when someone has a legitimate beef with a breeder, and I also know when someone has a legitimate beef or concern with a buyer. I know when stuff posted is crap and when it is not. And like others here, I will take anyone to task, breeder or buyer, or be it only someone complaining about their dog when they chain it up.

The threat of lawsuits is a convenient excuse. Oli, may I suggest that you remove your email address if you don't want to respond to individual emails. I can understand being barraged with bullshit posts is irritating. But think about how little value a site has when the truth may NOT be posted because someone with their own agenda will remove it. For example, I wrote today. I said NOTHING inflammatory, nor did I name names. That post was also deleted. The moderator/s have their heads up their butt removing not only that post but a lot of others that were apparently only a problem for the moderator/s.

For the rest of you, I suggest you post whatever you like and if it gets deleted and it is REALLY important, and if you have documentation to back up your claim, whatever that is, post it again and again and again. Further, you don't have to name names for all of us to know whom you are writing about. There is other information that will help id people/kennels/trainers and other businesses who are unethical besides a name.

I agree Hodie,
sorta.
I think everyone should just carry on, and maybe not worry about the deleting.

The path of least resistance.

Believe.

We now have someone else in place for us to decide whats offensive, or so we have been asked to believe.
What will be next?

Hell I don't care, its not my site as so many have pointed out.

whatever.

I totally agree w/you Animules.
Just wanted to know why some posts disappear and others don't.
I really like this site and I've learned alot from alot of the posters here.
And yes, RONNIE,   You!  You add humor and fun to this board.  DON'T LEAVE.  If you do, I wanna know where you go.
Good luck w/Stinky.  Maybe you guys will work it out.  Take care of Dinkie.  Don't forget to vacuum Pookie!

Regards,
Jen

My last thoughts,
Yeah, last thoughts.
If this is moderating they have failed miserably.
If thats all Oli had to say thats pathetic,  I'm not sure.
20 of you asked the same question, now you have your answer.
Do you except it?
No...don't answer that, I don't want to know anymore, just figured you'd run it through your hat rack for a second.
Maybe its all still Voo Doo.
But thats it for me.
These game players can have their sport.
Moderator can still blow me.
Brent.

I love your avatar!

Hodie:

I don't see Ugly Dogs posts as offensive at all, in terms of political discourse.  I do find terms such as "trailer trash" bickering as offensive as it gives a socioeconomic inference when none is needed.  "Idiotic bickering", "moronic bickering" or "brain dead bickering" may be more appropriate, LOL!

I also agree with Red Sable - all gsd and no play makes for dull reading.

by hodie on 06 April 2009 - 01:04

No problem. Listen, let me make myself clear. The issue of Israel and the Palestinians, or all the other ethnic strife that goes on all over the world, is, of course, of concern. Do people oppress others, yes. Do I like everything that Israel as a nation does? No. Do I want to see people oppressed or suffering? No. I don't  like everything my own country does.

Plenty of people are suffering in Israel and plenty more in Palestine. If I were Palestinian, I would hate Israel for sure. But if I was an Israeli, and could not sleep at night for fear someone would launch a rocket into my village, I would hate Hamas and Palestinians.

People like Ugly have no real understanding of history, nor do they understand how these conflicts came to be. Further, there is no thought given to helping, just making skin head, neo-nazi like comments and posting crap and citing web sites that are anti-semitic etc. His latest is posting a whacked out web site saying the man who killed the three police officers in PA is a Jew. What does that have to do with murdering three policemen? As if Jew = murder police.

He is a lunatic and he is the one who also insinuated that if one does not like the way the recent election turned out, hell, assassinate people from the rooftops. He considers himself a patriot and he has not idea what that word means.

To post photos of dead children here, is insensitive, and rude. I am a paramedic in a former life. I have held dying children severely injured in my arms in my work. I could post photos here of car wrecks, children beaten to a pulp by parents and boyfriends, but it is improper, regardless of my agenda to educate people about child abuse.

I have said enough about it. Now that there are supposedly moderators, don't worry, he is such a coward that he will do as he has in the past, posting quickly and then deleting himself and running. He is a coward with a criminal record who will end up hurting someone someday and end up in jail.

Well your last post says a lot about you luvemdogs.  This is not the place for antismetic, racist, bigoted posts.  If you agree with some of the politics then join the uglydog crowd and invite him to your neonazi GSD forum.  Brent it wasn't a drive by as you call it.  I had things to do and can't spend all day on the PDB.  Great luvemdogs, agree with Red Sable and invite her or him  to your new "forum."

I wish I was as eloquent as Hodie, she articulates her  views way better than I can.  They are very similar to mine, and I agree with her often.  Brent, I asked you on other threads what had upset you so much?  I really don't know what has gotten you so angry with the board lately, I don't know what threads were deleted that you were so passionate about.  I come here less and less because of the OT bs threads that are posted, and the horrific pictures that are added to these threads.  I come here to relax, unwind and talk about GSD's.  If I want to see a dead body, or a violent murder I can stay at work or watch the news.  In the past I have let my feelings be known very clearly about these OT posts in a polite way.  In my profession I am basically trained / forced to not express my true feelings with people.  I can't tell the drug dealer, rapist, murderer, or just plain idiot how I really feel about them.  That carries over to the PDB and my daily interactions with people.  So I try to hold back on what I say.  Believe me, I understand what I read and try to get an overall impression of the poster based on numerous posts, not one.  I do look at the OT posts because they can be very telling about a poster's true feelings.  I find it amazing to see what comes out in some of these posts.  Obviously, some posters views on religion, race, the law, law enforcement, drugs, our gov't, etc. are are completely different than mine.  That is fine, that is what the US is all about.  Except when it turns to hatred, condoning violence or preparing to overthrow the gov't or an upcoming so called revolution.  That is where I have a major difference and a big problem.  As far as a moderator goes, I'm all for it.  Keep it light hearted, mostly related to dogs, humerous and non offensive and I'm good with it.  Once again you know how I feel.

JMO FWIW,

Jim
