Question about Commands in Schutzhund.

Can I use Down if I choose to do so? My male responds quicker with a down, no Idea why, he just does. However, he is only 7 months old. All the other commands he responds to in german, its just the plotz...

Tiffae89, you can use what ever commands you want in schutzhund, just be consistent.  You could say "bananas" instead of down or platz if you wanted.  I have 2 sets of certain commands for my dogs, down for example means lie down.  Platz, means down and stay.  Platz means hit the deck when running and you can't move.  Platz for my dogs is a very strong command, down is used in the house if I want my dog to casually lie down.  "Come" means come here, however, "hier" (here) means come to me at full speed and sit in front.  Hier is a flying recall command and never used in the house.  My wife never uses these commands with the dogs as she will not enforce them.

Excellent idea, Slam duc   wish more people would use them like that.  Like also the difference in Phooey , nine and NO...I use them for different purposes with different importance.
