I'm available this weekend. I have a lousy pedigree, iffy hips, 2 bad knees and I'm balding. A bottle of bubbly, some Barry White, and we'll just see what transpires. It's been a while, but she's got a great rack....WOW. The credibility of a lot of folks here just went right down the crapper.

DR - it's interesting how you see what you want to see. no one every mentioned breaking from the standard like the examples you list do. do you really think it's productive to take stuff out of context to "prove" your point?
I love GSD and wish some breeders would stop trying to turn them into a fighting breed or a non-sporting breed but I respect every breeders right to have their own program as long as the standard is kept in mind. Working ability and intelligence are most important when breeding a GSD, then appearance, and if you can get all three great that would be the best. But if you focus on appearance alone - your sole reason for condemning this dog - you'll breed out some of the most essential qualities the GSD has to offer. Between the schutzhund and show agendas the GSD is losing some of it's versatility and I for one would love to see some breeders step up and reverse this trend. I haven't read von Stephanitz book in many many years but I would be curious to read what he felt made a good breeding bitch, I don't think he would have written her off so quickly not without looking at the whole dog, because that's what really matters with a GSD the whole dog not one aspect.
p.s. just because he said black doesn't mean that is his only criteria you are inferring that. could be a way of narrowing the field - lots of good dogs so no harm in looking at just one type - if you read his other posts he clearly states he's looking for particular qualities - DR i think you just love "dog fights" enjoy

I'm on the fence about this one. I can't help but think this is all a bad joke about the byb mentality.

No I just have loved the GSD for most of my life and hate to see what should be the "enlightened" on this database do all this talk and then breed inferior dogs.
Yes I am using some humor and while I am no friend to Two Moons this is nothing personal against him but I do like to prove my point. ruff ruff

Two Moons, I just got a look at your female's pedigree. I'm speechless and astounded and am wondering if you are serious or playing us all for fools? At least take the time to title her first and prove that she is worthy.

You know breeding for color used to be thought to be bad, to me I think there are too many breeders who breed for the "not normal" colors without regard for temperament, structure, or work ability and this IS a bad thing!
But, if you look there are many males as well as females that are titled and OFAed and proven that they are breed worthy that I would not be so concerned for people breeding for solid blacks, or black sables, black/reds, red sables........you guys get the picture! There are pleanty of nice males/females of any standard color to allow you to have color as one of your criteria for making a breeding. That being said, I would hope that isn't your only criteria.

"Very sad thread indeed. After all your post the last year Two moons ,I would have expected a different mindset."

I am also looking for a solid black stud to mate with my pure white bitch. I want to keep a male pup and name him OBAMA. Just think of the possibilities!
