Blitzen:    "Another stupid question - are there no rules regarding the height of the hurdles and walls?"

Not a stupid question, yes there are height requirments for both.  This from DVG for the A-frame and hurdle:

The nature of public speculation and debate never ceases to amaze me. I know all too well that none of these is true, because truth is always much, much bigger than a viewpoint. ……And I have wondered what brought me to this point ? ... for the answer to that I only have to look into my dogs eyes and see what is reflected back.

YES! Sometimes fools do rush boldly in where angels fear to tread!!

Juneau is my first real dog though as a young boy growing up in eastern India, I would play and run with a pack of street dogs that freely roamed our neighborhood scavenging scraps from the trash and living off the random meals offered from the kitchens of various households along the street.

Contrary to many people who compete I do Schutzhund with my dog for a single reason...because my dog and I enjoy doing it. He loves doing it and I feel younger and happier when I see him light up.

In return I learnt what love and respect means through my dog. It was T Floyd who helped me understand what my dog was trying to teach me from day one. Love is truly a verb, an action word, and so is Respect.

Juneau taught me to act out my Love and in turn I demanded him to act out his Respect so that both of us could dance this dance of Love & Respect on our self-chosen dance-floor called Schutzhund! And gradually the more we did this dance the better we became at it.

Then we decided to reach for something higher just for the sheer joy of pushing ourselves.

What will come of all this I do not know. The standing joke in the club where I train is that Ravi did not think that training for the Nationals and the Universal Sieger title with a showline was challenging enough so he decided to paint a big bulls-eye on his butt just to make it more interesting...

I know the strengths and the weaknesses in me and in my dog (yes we all have them) and I have the courage to not hide and the integrity to not lie.... there are very few people who are fortunate enough to be able to take their first dog ever... a showline puppy that was bought sight unseen from a breeder across the country .... and title that dog themselves through, BH, AD, SchH1, Breed survey, SchH2 & ScH3 ..... and bring themselves to the Sieger Show with no organizational backing except the goodwill of friends, the commitment of my training coach towa

And in this process we were honored to share space with people like Heidi Theis and Karen Sinclair.

Whether we succeed in whatever we set for ourselves or whether we fail, we have already enshrined ourselves in each others lives…. And today we induitably are in an elite group of the few showline dogs in this country that can stand on our own strength in any competitive field. Nothing or no one can deny us that.

Juneau and I have already created and are living our dream. I hope that the average membership of UScA is as fortunate as I.

Yours in the shared love of our dreams....

Thanks, Animules. My next question is - are the rules enforced?

by Blitzen on 25 June 2008 - 01:06

Rainhaus, you have absolutely nothing to lose except the collection and storage fees. I should have done a better job with my dog;  due to a prostate infection, his count was low when I first had him collected. It was was treated and his count recovered, but I neglected to have him collected again and we ended up with only a few breeding straws. Not enough to impregnate a bitch due the poor quality. I didn't understand how important my dog would become 20 years later, so I neglected to do the right thing. Don't be like me, collect him while you still can. You will never regret it.

Requiring at least a club trial prior to the SS might eliminate the phonies.

I'd support that ruling 100%.

Blitzen, apparently there are times the height rules are not enforced.    That is something that should easily be checked.

Ravi, You have my respect for your and Juneau acheivements.  He is a fine looking dog that works too.

I hate pimping my dogs.  It goes against my grain.
